  1. They are doing 10% discount this month if you get two so quids in there Mr Varty
  2. Is no one reading the table posted buy sbck Seems sound only surprise to me is that beech is not up there with the other hardwoods.
  3. I used the product from a branch logger so sub 75mm. This small material does make great charcoal but think you will benefit massively from properly drying it.
  4. Not sure softwood is much lighter when wet just much lighter when dry.
  5. Is there not issues with too much hitch weight with a big hefty hiab mounted up front?
  6. Ah this can of worms I work on 1m3 of wet hardwood logs being 500kg and dry to around 350kg. Beware that a lot of 1m3 bags hold more than spec even when new and get bigger through use.
  7. Soft. Douglas and Larch
  8. So your merchant is around £60 per cube? I look for £75 but don't move much at that price. Doing it discounted to £60 at the moment and it's selling well.
  9. Glad it might help Not found it remotely profitable but great fun
  10. Yes it's been a bit wild in the showers. Been walking on the moors with horizontal sleet
  11. Need to have a pretty well controlled one. This was ours on a burn last year. Would not want anything flammable remotely close when it's going full chat.
  12. Bingo Yes very heavy stuff
  13. How do you make the stakes, cleaved or off the splitter? They look very handy whichever
  14. Been out in the workshop planing up a face on each. First one is either Syc or Field maple defiantly not ash. Second one does appear to be ash. The heartwood has that distinctive smell olive ash has and grain look much more ash like when cleaned up.
  15. Fantastic scraggs. Really like the kerfed ply to get the curve on the front
  16. There are new ones on Ebay and they are 10k plus but would look at second hand. Making one does not look out of the question. Some ply and glass fibre shouldn't be too difficult but would love to see one close up as I was of your thinking that there cant be that much space in one. Any news on your trailer?
  17. Doubt it was hedge-grown as came on 27 tonne load of nice straight wood. Yep pretty sure it's not hornbeam but you never know
  18. The grain does not look like ash close up but would not bet my life on it.
  19. Just toying with idea of camper van then came across demountable campers and wonderd if they are any good. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=camper+back+for+hilux&newwindow=1&espv=2&biw=1097&bih=564&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjF1435u73SAhWoJMAKHdw3AfwQsAQIMA#newwindow=1&tbm=isch&q=demountable+camper+back+for+hilux&*&imgrc=RzF8ioYIdHnIyM:
  20. Don't see much Syc apart from what comes off the farm hedges. Does it get bark as in pic two and the dark heartwood? Guess the answer is yes as that's what you both think just not seen it before
  21. Yep 1 and 2 one sample and 3 and 4 the other
  22. Ash bark beetle.
  23. Processing a lorry load of ash and at first glance thought these were ash as well but on closer inspection not sure on either. First one the grain looks like sycamore but never seen bark on a sycamore like this but to be fair I don't get out much Second one not the foggiest. Two pictures of each sample.
  24. Looks like ash. Mind you I should not comment as about to start my own ID thread and the answer could be ash Welcome to Arbtalk by the way
