  1. Can you do these with a 20" bar
  2. Was just reading up on the 560xp. Presume they would be more than happy with a 20" bar? It would fill the gap between my other two saws nicely.
  3. Hmmm thinking more carefully I have a whole roll of .325" chain so maybe best to get the gutsiest saw that would use this maybe with a 20" bar?
  4. Thanks Rob Had thought in terms of a larger saw but an 18" bar with a narrow chain would probably do 90% of whats needed. What saws would that be suitable for?
  5. At present just have two saws. A 346XP with a 15" bar and MS460 with stock 25" bar. A lot of my work is ringing up timber thats too big to go through the processor of say 14"-24". Is there a way to put a narrower bar on the 460 and if not whats the biggest saw that can use a narrower chain? Thanks
  6. Here is one of the weather services predictions for snow depth on the 14th
  7. Happy New year to you to Paul Never many white Christmases here but occasionally on the tops of the moors. Snow and cold has become a very rare thing in recent times. Not had any really cold winter's since the 80s
  8. Find this one comes in handy Dreckly An unspecified time in the future. If someone says that they will do something for you “dreckly,” do not hold high hopes of them doing it anytime soon. “Dreckly” could mean tomorrow, or more likely next week or even next year.
  9. Zip it Paul You can guess what it's like down here PS it does look lovely and looks like there is snow on the way for later next week up your way.
  10. Think it also depends how tight you are and how little metal your are prepared to except the file removing
  11. Mine last a lot longer than three sharpens
  12. Metsa Man off here runs one. Might be worth a PM Here is on You Tube [ame] [/ame]
  13. Link works fine. Not advocating their chains as tried one and its not good at taking oil around the bar and happily sharpen all my chains to until just diddy triangles remain
  14. Was going to get a Nilfisk but happened upon a cheap SH Karcher. The Karcher works fine for a bit of general cleaning.

  16. What a faff
  17. Yep. Cant say I can always achieve this out in the field but with some decent light and clamped up in a vice in workshop can get them cutting lovely. The grinding marks on a new chain are pretty course and a file leaves a cleaner edge.
  18. 11 degrees warmer hear out west. We are having another ridiculously warm winter with one air frost to date. Still the relatively dry weather continues making work a lot easier than recent winters.
  19. Never tried the Heras panels but if I did would put 2 IBC crates in the middle and knock the bottom out of the top one so air could circulate inside the stack.
  20. On our baby trailer have the controls are attached to pivoting arm on the trailer. When required the arm pivots over so controls can be accessed from the cab well if it had a cab
  21. Wish I had seen this thread earlier as just dismantled a stack of crates today. Taken a few pics during the process so hope it makes sense. We stack in batches of 30 2 high 3 deep and 5 wide. On the top some offcuts of IBC plastic tanks protect the tarp where it gets pulled over the edges and some tyres in the middle to avoid pooling. Found the eyelets in the tarp useless and got ripped out first blow so got some 2x1 batten either side of the outer edge and these battens are screwed to each other sandwiching the tarp. Then it's tied down with heavy duty elastic cord to some bodged wooden standoff brackets. Hope that all makes sense.
  22. One of the bonuses of crates for me is I work on my own. Getting the loops of a bag on the fork tines is PITA jumping in and out the cab whereas can just pic up and IBC in one go.
  23. Guess it depends on the area but we will only sell one pallet of kindling in a season if that. Firelighters have also proved a dead loss.
  24. Yes can't go wrong with the WP36. It is tough enough but hired out into the wrong hands could come back bent so would recommend hiring with operator. Surprisingly quick when processing big rings but get the extra lever to operate the splitter separately.
  25. Could have sworn I ordered a Grandberg with my Alaskan but never read what was written on it
