  1. Out of that £32.50 you need to pay VAT on sale price, run all the machinery involved pay the operators. Delivery say 5 miles away at 50p per mile just for the truck. All these costs add up. Then you have to wait a year for the return while your logs dry. Doubt there is more than a tenner to be made per cube at best. Fair play if you can be efficient enough to make it work though
  2. I will take you word for it but we could never consider doing logs for that money.
  3. I like the idea of something drying here at the moment but not a chance Just cant have zeroed the scales properly
  4. Don't what happened on my last reading but it was wrong. Did think the rate of wetting was a bit fast, anyway it's at 614g today.
  5. Nice set up but how do make a living £150 for 2.4 m3
  6. Having cracked up our Karcher one earlier in this thread it just died. Picked a petrol one up in Lidl today that's much like the one in Bobs link. It's in a different league to the Karcher power wise and appears better made. 3 year warrantee as well.
  7. Sorry to here that Matt. Will keep an eye out. Police being any help? Might be worth sharing on Facebook. Mate had his bike shop broken into and they made the bikes too hot to handle and got them back
  8. Working on a design for a retort that should be done some time this summer. Smallish charge chamber (200 litres) but should be able to do multiple burns in a day.
  9. Well the relentless take up of water continues. 630g this morning. So 15% already
  10. "half a dozen meter cube bags of logs" Need a big trailer to do that. We have an Ifor 10x5 trailer and can just get 3 IBC crates of logs on it.
  11. This chap built one https://woodgears.ca/dust/air_cleaner.html Workshop filter are one hell of a lot cheaper than Dyson's offering http://www.toolpost.co.uk/pages/Health___Safety/Dust_Extraction/Microclene/microclene.html
  12. Been dead for two weeks. So much so had to check our phone was working. Just 1 1/2 m3 sold this week
  13. We have changed the family car to a petrol having run diesels for years. Personally I think particulates from them are worse for us. As an asthmatic the output from dirty diesels set me off. Regardless of pollution modern diesel engines are getting very complicated which in turn is making them less reliable.
  14. Bit breezy here but looks rough in north Wales Wind Map - Britain Observations 94 mph gust at Capel Curig
  15. What do you make of their numbers for the cost of wood?
  16. Don't know accurate it is but this table does not agree with your figures Energy Cost Comparison | Nottingham Energy Partnership
  17. Just doing a few quick sums. Say it's a 40" container you could get around 30m3 of logs in there but say you have 20m3 lose logs. Thats around 7500 kg of logs. If they have been kilned down to 15% (no idea how dry your kiln dried logs are) To take those logs up to 20% would require 375 kg/litres of water to get in through air changes. Below 20% you would be unlucky to get mould problems IMO
  18. If the logs are dry why would a container be a problem? Putting properly kiln dried logs in one would be like having lots of those little packets of desiccant you find in cardboard boxes. As long as the seals on doors were good and kept shut most of the time would have thought it might work very well.
  19. Fit a heat recovery unit?
  20. It's arrived and done the job so well worth it for just this one pin Had to devise a way to clamp the body still so the impact of hammer was fully effective but once clamped it cleared the gunk from a grease nipple that has not worked for at least 2 years.
  21. I normally buy seconds of this Box Profile Roofing Sheets (34/1000) | Cladco Profiles Is not especially cheap but fast to erect with tek screws and long lasting. Ideally need support every 1.2m along the length
  22. Just a little update. Log is now at 581g so I make that 6.8% . Been very dry with low RH until yesterday when the usual warm damp air arrived.
  23. Another for beech
