Very different over here in Germany , the climbing certificates are taught on lock jacks so that's what most learn to climb on so they stick to that for a bit then have a play around with hitches a couple use them in the wet as well but they pretty much have then lying around in the kit bag

All the boys at my work have lock jacks and one with a spider but six out of 8 climb with hitches and the lock jacks stay in the bag for rescues

brilliant for pruning and very light. The one i used was not fully run in but still had a great power to weight ratio , also the bar and chain are much thinner then the 201t so it leave much tidier cuts very tempting to do the ol one hand cuts with this one

haha i am well aware , as for the tickets thats good news for the industry ive done days subbing for contractors here and there and you do have to be 100% on the game when falling even a very very experienced contractor i know recently had a moment when things went pear shaped and caved in his helmet, its hard to keep on the ball when felling then walking to the next tree then felling ,complacency is a killer. very bad news about the faller

haha come on guys , its true that the forestry boys are tough but dont be put off it can be great work it just depends on what your looking to get out of it , im sure you wouldnt have to much trouble finding a job with your tickets as in the forestry industry they do matter but its experience that they will look at , good luck

I've seen some pretty old spikes with velcro that still sticks fine , would be interesting to find out what other people have to say about the longevity of velcro wraps . The geckos i use have velcro and i really like them , really light

Defiantly use in right circumstances , makes job easier if you have to move material from one side of the tree to a drop zone on the other

Like a triangle cut when removing heavy limbs that you want to land flat except your standing on the ground ? Triangle is the strongest shape so it holds to the last second then pops in the direction it wants to go ?

workmate has them and really rates , those and the pro ascents

worn sequoia, tree magic ,skylotech and treemotion and tree motion is better in all areas its such a versatile harness and the comfort when in odd positions cant be matched by any other harness i have worn

Heard the same thing over and over with the pully saver about retrieve ability and how the rope guide is a lot easier especially on the bigger trees but hey I'm sure there will be a lot of people that disagree , I use the rope guide personally , where on Germany are you bro ?

A couple of months ago I flew into Germany from NZ , I had a five hour stopover in Sydney and a two hour in Abu Dhabi all in all 34 hours cheap Arline with no legroom I agree with Taupo tree man , spend a little more for comfort and I recommend a stop over also .

now its not cheap but i used one the other day and boy is it light and for its weight it goes pretty well, the bar and chain are much thinner so it leaves a really smart cut so it's great for pruning, the page is in german but it weighs 2 and a half kgs . I think it just got released here in Germany about a month ago , not sure about anywhere else but i was impressed defiantly something to consider if you did a lot of medium sized pruning (If your willing to fork out) MS 150 TC-E - Extrem leichte 1,0kW Baumpflegesäge

You will love the native podocarp forests mate they are unreal. as for the size of trees, wont be long and 30 meters up will feel as natural as 15

this may be common knowledge to all which I'm sure may possibly be the case but some products are made in the states and some in germany you can tell by the serial number if it has a one as the first number on the sticker its made in germany and if it has a two its the states. ....... again may be stating the obvious
