  1. Tell the customer they need to make a gift, at the 18th birthday, of their first daughter (subject to inspection), a side of beef and 100 gallons of fine ale to the tree planter. Job done! Mystic forces appeased, tree planter happy!
  2. Nice work! How long had it been down before you milled him up?
  3. Totally "get" the bigger = better logic, and assuming money isn't the limiting factor, if running a 110/trailer setup, isn't it a towing weight issue if you venture north of 1.5t?
  4. Any update on how it has progressed (or not as the case may be)?
  5. Bath tub of kings here Jon! I'll be in there with a can of cider (and the Mrs) later!! 🍺
  6. Your business plan in deep, deep, serious trouble at a very basic level! Just looked at your website.... you're selling 4+ bags for £37.50, £10 cheaper than the cost of 1 bag, £47.50! Since it doesn't specify "each", you could be held to 4+ bags for £37.50. (Just in case it's taken out of context, I'm just jesting, I don't really have a horse in this race so nothing serious and certainly no criticism intended. Good luck to you, sounds like you've got a good set up)
  7. That's the paradox.... A business plan that relies upon subsidy is not a business plan unless it can support itself without the subsidy. It's only a personal view but I see the RHI as an incentive to encourage lower carbon dependent behaviour. Installing a wood burning kiln to dry firewood simply to claim RHI is hardly in the spirit of reducing CO2 emissions. A bit like the benefit fraternity knowing all the tricks to get maximum state pay-out. It doesn't quite sit right with me even if it is technically 'within the guidelines.'
  8. Mindful of the sensitivity of asking for an insight into someone's personal life, and no offence intended (or taken if you say bog off!) it sounds like there's something pretty major on the horizon. Sounds intriguing, any chance of an insight?? 👍🏻
  9. Can't fault 'em! Always top notch!!
  10. Nice little vid! What was the bloke on the ground doing apart from wandering around scratching his nuts, filming and watching the brash pile get bigger and bigger?? Or was that the boss??
  11. unless I'm missing something, 14" dia Lime: tie off, step cut, break, keep in hand, lower away hand over hand from climber to the ground? 2.5-3' sections no too much drama after 3 weetabix? Make first cut small and gauge weight for subsequent sections. Maybe I've mis understood the brief but surely that would be as quick or quicker than repositioning block after each cut. I'm assuming it's vertical stem sections??
  12. 😆😆💀 Is it feasible to steer them away from the dull & bland towards the native? Whilst losing the apparent benefit of speed of establishment (which can become a financial liability with constant trimming later) there are Eco / wildlife benefits of native hedging which can be incorporated into the teaching syllabus for years to come - natural habitat, food source, flowering & berries plus potential for laying in the future. There's useful info @ https://www.hedgesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Discounted_Mixed_Native_Garden_Hedging_Packs.html And also there are free tree packs for schools (2015 applications are closed now) @ http://www.treecouncil.org.uk/grants Just an aside but maybe worth considering, if there are any current or future development aspirations at the school, preemptive compensatory planting may demonstrate positive Eco awareness in subsequent application process. Just a few thoughts!
  13. That sounds like a good arrangement. Good post 👍🏻
  14. Nice one! Sorry missed yr reply, just seen!! 👍
  15. If you put "Lantra pti course" or "Professional Tree Inspection" in the search there's lots of good useful info available!
  16. You're a little teaser Rob, as if I didn't already have enough to do this weekend, now I'm going to have to have a look at this!
  17. I wondered where you were going with that Ted! Lemon juice, grapefruit juice, orange juice..... I thought it was going to be Tequila and forget all about the injury!
  18. I know fella, sent & received in jest 🍻
  19. What sort of ball-park $ for something similar to totem? I can chog it down to whatever height is appropriate, site is suitable for a tower scaffold and it's a paddock that would lend itself well to on-site camping, bonfire beers if that's appealing?
