  1. Zelkova's are good near the Brentford gate I think, and a very chunky oak down by the lake. As has been said the glasshouses are a must. Oh, and the treetop walk is good for showing people what your 'office ' is like if you climb. W
  2. Yes good to see the 'next generation' showing enthusiasm for woodland management and not mugging old people!
  3. Half the price of the 084 2 weeks ago. I was chatting to a bloke in Lamberhurst Engineering the other day who was 100% sure that the 084 was his as he could see a couple of marks on it. He had it stolen recently. Nice one Jon
  4. Very scary stuff, public awareness is the key to stopping this from getting out of the test plots. Why cant we just leave things alone and be more efficient with what we have?
  5. I would also look at the Natural England website, standing policies for protected species. They have a number of guides and papers on habitat protection and such.
  6. Have a look through this file for some examples from an environmental impact assessment I used at University, might have some useful bits relating to what your after. Survey's and mitigation etc. Warren Vol2-section3-ecology.pdf
  7. Well they seemed to have cut to growth so looks like they've finished! Criminal.
  8. Do know what you mean OMT, just watched the piece from the link above, seeing a tree of that size coming down is very sad.Gues they didnt realise the importance of the old growth back then as we do now.
  9. Proper tree cutters! And that truck would be great as a tipper full of chip.
  10. To me it doesnt seem like the police have done anything wrong here. We're all hearing about kit being stolen, day and night. And it seems said officers are actually tring to stop this. I wouldnt mind being stopped late at night if I was in a van as you said you were. They're police and doing this will only lead to less thefts if the real scumbags are aware of on the ball bobbies. Yes some can do with a bit of customer relations advise but it seems that once they had checked out your story they were reasonable.
  11. Maybe it was a quiet night and they were feline a bit bored so decided to pull you over furr the sake of it.
  12. I would say xl then. I have large and a 34 waist
  13. Hi Richard, that was my reaction when David Humpries forwarded it to me, theres a few things on there that can be downloaded so I've been slowly getting the books which I think will be most useful. As has been said, there's always the library. I'm Tunbridge Wells so a good hour and a quarter to Merrist wood without traffic. I'm sure some will travel furthur though. Warren
  14. Yes Richard, like yourself I run my own business as well so will fit it in around that. I fitted a fulltime degree which was actually 2 long days a week around work so figured should be able to manage this, but have heard that the work load is pretty intense. I've got hold of the reading list and course content so will try and do some groundwork beforehand. Where abouts in w sussex are you? Warren
  15. Had my application accepted for the level 4 diploma at merrist wood last week so may see you there.
  16. I. cuticularis would be my thoughts as well. I'll wait for back up Back up arrived,I'd listen to David when he has a closer look
  17. Well tubes! I was glad to see they eventially got their ear defenders on, otherwise I was gonna say that it was a little unsafe the way they were doing that. Bring on the pool W
  18. To be honest I dont miss it that much at all. Yes after 2 years I treated myself to a breitling superavenger which turned out to be a good investment as its gone up by a grand and a half in value since then.
  19. Haha. Well I hav'nt drunk for 4ish years and very healthy and dont beat the wife(cause I dont have one) or the girlfriend. Yes after a hard days grafting I do sometimes crave a pint but with an addictive personality I thought i would knock it on the head. Theres less hospital visits, in the gym most mornings at 6, ran 5 marathons in different countries, mountain bike and feel better than I did at 20. Anyone fancy a pint ?
  20. I think I'd paint the whole thing blood red so all of mine blended in after 5 minutes of use! W
  21. Hi David Yes I got the nylon mallet out and had a tap. Even with the Oaks thick bark it was evident that decay was extensive at base.
