  1. Bulldog for spades, hoes, loppers etc. Felco for secateurs. Faithful for shovels. Silky for saws.
  2. Out of interest, is that legal on the road with the chipper hitched to the front or does it have to be transported? Nice kit btw
  3. the original post was 2010 ^^
  4. lack of signs and barriers?
  5. I cant believe some of the figures stated in this thread! Good on you if you can get it. Going back to the original posters question, I would simply charge £100 call out and double your hourly rate - £180 would be the figure i'd put in (+vat). For two people (in the OP's post it was only one) I would charge £260. I'd be more than happy with that in my pocket for two hours work one evening - as would my groundie! Make it safe and go back when its light would be my approach?
  6. Lawrie Park Avenue Sydenham. Take note of the church, post box and of course the tree in the roundabout
  7. Ring the local car scrappy or farmer with a tractor. Id just pull it down the road out the way as above
  8. Business growth is expensive but always making a profit on the jobs, I wouldn't get out of bed if there wasn't money in it. There's always something to buy out there, you might want it but do you actually need it? Consider purchases, keep figures tight and always keep on top of paperwork when it comes to knowing your monthly income, outgoings and profit margins per month.
  9. I would think, i am not a law expert, you need to highlight the date of which your terms and conditions have changed (eg today) and highlight the change to any existing clients who require quotes for new work to ensure they are aware of such changes? With the job in hand, I would suck in the cost of the stump grinding and let the client sing your praises.
  10. Been there, worded a quote along the lines of 'remove all wood' and then got the phone call about the stump. Lesson learned but ended up getting someone to grind out the stump as good will. There was enough fat on the job to take it in but there was no profit in it after that. Since then I ensure its all plain and simple and worded properly!
  11. Uni Mog with front mounted low chipper with the safety bar removed, couple of 660's out the windows and an 880 out the back to cover the six ... thats how i'd roll...
  12. bet that woke the dead when it fell! Nice job to get though
  13. second site, large old veteran apple, with these at the base.
  14. was uploading lol
  15. First site, host tree is an Ash
  16. Hi all, I bow to the greater knowledge that is arbtalk when it comes to fungi idents, so please could someone inform me of what the following is and its effects if any upon the tree? Two sites which i will reply here after Cheers James
  17. That would be an air stone connected to an air pump / compressor... I used to be in Koi ponds and koi carp etc and still keep koi so I take with experience. It could be anaerobic sludge being stirred up from the bottom or the aforementioned substance that david has mentioned. I would highly recommend a series of 20% water changes and a very good dose of Watersafe by Tetrapond - this primarily removes chlorine and chloramines but does have a very good effect on removing excessive metals and contaminants. Be cautious of large temp changes through excessive water changes, if no purifier is available then spray the water into the pond to help gas off the chlorine - this wont work on the chloramines but will help. James
  18. I live in Sissinghurst Mark, my girlfriend lives in Sandwich so I travel a fair bit lol The oak was in Goudhurst - part of Bedgebury I believe.
  19. An Oak came down just down the road from us but I think on a whole we were lucky in our area.
  20. A256, A20, M20, A28, A262. Just got a text about a snapped out Liquidambar - due to go there on Wednesday anyway to remove another tree - happy days
  21. Not one call out today! Travelled back up from my other half's in east Kent to home and only saw twigs down so looks like the majority of Kent missed the weather. Stay safe chaps!
  22. I have a dremel already but want something which you can set the angles, with a chain stop thingy and preferably to make the chain all the same length etc. I know one of my chains has a really naff working corner so would be good to buff it back to where i can then file it to touch up. Might take a look at the clarke one in person sometime and see from there.
  23. Id prefer a 240volt model over 12volt, think the one from Jones's might be the one after further reading but any more suggestions for a grinder?
  24. Thanks for the suggestions so far, will go and look on Rob's site too - hadn't thought of that! I know how to use a file and regularly do, this is for when they need a proper looking at (like one which met a piece of barbed wire in a conifer the other day), the question was not relating to how to use a file
  25. Morning all My better looking other half would like to purchase me a chain bench grinder for my birthday (love that lass ) Whats a good model which won't break her bank balance? Budget will be up to a maximum of £75-80 but less would be a bonus. Looked at Portek Maxi on frjones and clarke on machine mart so far? Any recommendations? Cheers dears
