  1. Well he was moving anyway.
  2. I saw him yesterday (fri 27th ) taking down a large multi stemmed conifer in Cwmbran he seemed okay.
  3. The old Munch is 55 still climbing, still using ladders for access still loving it and going to continue for now.
  4. I don't think it's to crucial as I have one closed in and one open front log shed and the wood seems to dry the same in both, the logs are stacked neatly on a pallet in both.

  6. A McCulloch 10 10 automatic in the early seventies when they were quite good saw's and a little later a Stihl 032av, chainbrake optional extra.
  7. 55 still climbing finding a little harder now but still enjoy it, as the other threads say tree work can be hit or miss these days so if you can turn your hand to other jobs like fencing, grass cutting etc it would be handy.

  13. Big quarry rocks are good too.
  14. Used to drive them in my early days of starting in forestry in the 70s we had front radiator protector bars and sump guards fitted to them too.
  15. Pour a drop of fuel in tip out refill should be fine.

  17. Got a Titan pro 8 ton petrol splitter goes through everything I cut, it's a vertical one which is easier to get on with than the horizontal ones, also being petrol you can use it anywhere.
  18. We used to use a flat file and sharpen the blade ourselves on the saw, if it's a tct blade they were a bit harder and got sent away.

  24. I have pulled willow out of a river which had rooted itself in full flow.
  25. Same problem here this was not too far from our house, a clip from the local paper.AN INVESTIGATION was under way yesterday into the cause of a huge grass fire in Risca. The Argus reported yesterday how firefighters tackled the blaze near Eppynt Close in Ty Sign on Monday. The 20 firefighters were called to the scene just before 2.30pm to put out the flames which had destroyed grassland in a 500 metres square area. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said officers returned to the scene yesterday afternoon to start investigations into the cause of the fire. We had the same problem last year in the same area.
