  1. Can't you cut your own out of a nice tree, a friend did with a chainsaw and a bit of sanding and looked good.
  2. Some photo's of our's I think they paid approx 55k as it is.
  3. Long term plant some of it up with xmas trees we used to plant approx 3000 to the acre.
  4. Our transit with toolbox and high sides came in at approx 2.7t with an empty back.
  5. She's a cracking truck I am just glad that I work for the local authority I could not afford the running of the thing.
  6. A change from the usual tree work we were helping to clear a overgrown draining ditch and culvert.
  7. Try fluesystems.com I have used them for two houses now and had no problems with them.
  8. My boy slipped on roller blades when he was young and did the same as your lad, a few weeks in plaster and plenty of sympathy.
  9. We shall be putting the Christmas trees up around the borough in the next week all between 25 to 40 footers.
  10. Working for the local authority we are not allowed to sell our's to the public, so our's go's to the local allotments, footpaths in wooded area's and anybody who wants some. ( donations are welcome though)
  11. I have the vertical petrol version of this model and have had no problems with it, it grunted a bit on Yew logs but still went through them.

I have two small peach trees in my greenhouse have had no peach leaf curl on them and have picked peaches in July too, peach trees should be hardy enough to survive as other trees do and someone told me they put a polythene cover over them in late Jan for a few weeks and this stopped leaf curl (don't know if it was true or not).

  14. We have had a couple of chains over the years with cracked links or snapped and just repaired them ourselves and they have been fine afterwards, we buy reels of chains and make our own up so repairs are no problem.
  15. Getting ready to fell all the ash trees then.
  16. Seen it loads of times nearly always directly above us it's just a bright dot going over.
  17. Can't you just put a log burner outside the fireplace, that's what I did with mine I lined the chimney put a t piece with soot trap and put it to the back of the burner and then you get a lot of heat off the burner and it's handy for a kettle etc.
  18. A couple of dead alders beside Cwmbran boating lake, some cracking fish in the lake too.
  19. Climbing 40m up a tree to collect honey with a vine from the jungle and a homemade axe.
  20. Don't know if any of you saw Human planet on BBC 4 the other night, if not go to BBC I Player, go to Human planet Jungles People of the trees and fast forward to 24min and have a look it's a different type of h&e out there, after that clip go to 41min and have a look at that, enjoy.
  21. Thats where I started my life in the tree game on the 1st of Jan 1973, staying there till the middle of 1984 then moving on to the tree surgery in the local authority, the pics bring back some memories.
  22. We had a problem this week with an oak that was braced 12-15 years ago, at the time it was splitting open on two limbs we braced it to help retain the tree, but the rot got in and a big chunk fell off, the rest of the tree now has the grim reaper on the way.
