  2. Bit damp in the morning but it was suns out guns out for the rest of the day here:) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Cheers for the tips, I can see how good positioning of the sling can make a world of difference with steering limbs as you cut them. I think my main problem was lack of tension on the line. Did have a 3:1 system and a portawrap though though but not everyone I work with is comfortable with these bits of kit. What do you mean by going in blind Nod? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. I think fuel can make a hell of a difference I run all my saws on aspen and they seem to run better for it. Mine felt really good today, don't no if it's just my mind telling me it's cutting better but I was ringing up some big oak logs (20 inch or so)at the yard of one of the guys I sub too and it was flying through them. Almost like it had given it a little bit more power. I'm glad to have my little Dale Winton back anyway Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. I've had something replaced on mine too, forgotten what it was called but it was the breathy thingy from the fueltank to the air-filter. Barry and mark at Skyland did it for me super quick under warranty, I'd definitely recommend them on Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Interesting stuff, I've done a couple of speed lines lately, I've always started from the bottom and worked my way up but clearing round the anchor point first makes sense. Do you find when starting from the top on bigger stuff they can sit/get hung up on the limbs underneath? Or is it a case of go smaller and keep the line tight? Either way nice vid! 7. That's much less cool though! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  9. That sucks, can't really justify going halfway across the country but I really fancy competing in a comp, oh well looks like I'll have to make my own! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. It's just velcro, the standard tree motion one peels off and you just stick the comfort one in the same place, it's lumbarlicious Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. just wanted to know if the tree climbing comp is running at woodfest this year? the website says it is but it hasnt been updated from 2013 so im unsure. cheers! ed
  12. Interesting stuff, hopefully Somone who knows their stuff like that spud guy will come along and give some good advice on the matter! I've just messaged my dealer about mine, had to get another top handle sent up today mine wouldn't start for love nor money! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. My 540 is suffering the same issues at the minute, i got it as soon as it was released and it's never missed a beat till now. I have noticed the air filter is always wet with fuel, just thought it was groundies being abit lavish with the aspen till now Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. i use one, its smoother than barry white on a warm summers night!
  15. I think the narration at the start of the second Vid says it all really Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  19. Jellyfish stings, acid counters the alkali or the alkali counters the acid? Can never remember which way round it goes! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Let's be honest that's not a huge tree. If I've worked this out right the tree is to the south of your property their for even if you remove the branches encroaching on to your property your going to do very little towards getting more sun light. Leaves, catkins and twigs will still fall on to your property as theirs nothing you can do about the wind. Moss may be growing under the tree but this tree probably sucks up over a ton of water a day your garden might be waterlogged for 3/4 of the year without it their. Trees are vital in urban environments as they increase air quality dramatically, just as important to your kids health as getting a bit of sun on their skin. Just consider all of these things before you have it pruned, trees are amazing and most people don't realise it! If you still want it pruned pay Someone who knows what their doing so the tree is still healthy afterwards. If I was asked to do this job if would firstly go and have a chat with your neighbour, explain to them that I'm just the middle man and if i was granted access to their property the tree would benefit (more accurate pruning cuts due to good work positioning with an good anchor point in the tree) I'd be able to clean up their garden before i left (sawdust gets everywhere!) and just be friendly with them a bit of tact and charm is all you need most of the time. If they still didn't want to play ball id go round in the day while they where out at work and climb it as I would normally. It may be trespassing but in a tree that size I'd be in and out before you've even put the kettle on to make me a brew:) I'd seriously consider allowing someone to prune a tree from scaffolding, they sound like numpties to me and if they do a poor job it will only make any tensions with your neighbour even worse. 21. Tachyon or any 11.5 rope, smaller the better! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Got both and use both respectively, zig zags for show, sjs for pro. If your going straight up and down all day the sj wins for me, if your in a fiddley tricky prune then the zig zag is better, the zig zag is murder on the ropes though and don't even think of bombing it out of a tree like you do with the sj as it will glaze them no end! 23. Deet, and gin and tonic, when I was working in Africa they swore by tonic water to keep midges away! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. If I was in your shoes I'd save a little more money and buy the Stihl 150 on a ten inch bar. It's cheep, it's a a professional saw, a few months down the line you can buy a bigger top handle (husky t540 is the best but that's another topic) and your 150 will still be of use to you for smaller jobs and more delicate prunes. I've used the 150 on some pretty big take downs and it's coped, wouldn't be my tool of choice but it certainly took on the challenge! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
