  1. Here is a little vid i made of a cedar dismantle i did, just to help bump things along. I'm fairly busy now but have a few days free and I'm always looking to increase the network of companies i sub too so if you think i may be of service id be happy to hear from you. cheers, Ed [ame] [/ame]
  2. nice! i expect some more oak rigging vids in the sunshine then!
  3. Crumbs! Think I'd be heading to oz if I was you use your skills while soaking up some sun!
  4. Some really cracking rigging going on their, very very nice work!
  5. Cheers guys, yeh I mentioned the helmets to the boss and he agreed it would be better, at least for the next vid anyway;) Yeh I usually tip tie the timber when working from a higher rigging point to reduce the swing but in this instance we where lowering Into the arb trolley so they had to be balanced so they could fit in nice.
  6. Cheers gents! yeh I know what you guys mean about the lids but I'm just a subbie climber, if it was my call it would be mandatory at all times. Although I'd like to point out this the my favourite company that i sub in to really efficient, hard working and generally safe if a little helmet shy:) The reason I swapped from ddrt to Srt is just to try and bring it into the work place more. I use the zigzag mainly but rec climb srt and I'm trying to get used to it on the job by bringing it in where I get a chance without slowing things down
  7. Cheers guys! yeh I do baby my saw I had that one on pre order from Skyland and got it the week they came out, it's been solid. Although I did bend the original bar I've never dropped it on the strop
  8. Thought I'd share a little vid I made of a cedar take down I did this week for arrow arborists based on the wirral. It was pretty much all lowering due to proximity to patio, houses and a shed. I've not been climbing that long in the scheme of things and I know I'm not in reg cotes league(yet) but constructive criticism is welcome and any hints as to where I can improve. Play it loud and play it proud:) [ame] [/ame]
  9. Can't comment on the other systems but I do have a grcs and it is just fantastic:) the smart winch looks just as good but costs a little more I think. I was buying a hole load of rigging stuff so it was a no brainier to buy it all from honeys in one go and get a good discount on the lot.
  10. The higher your anchor point the easier it is, so smaller is often better than bigger when it comes to how thicker stem to stick your rope round. Also try just springing away from the stem, feet flat against the tree sit back in your harness and give it a little jump. Once you get used to swinging in and out try using that swing to start off a branch walk, that little momentum and already having all your weight in your saddle can help the hole motion of getting out to the tips
  11. Send it back man that's not right!
  12. send it back, the ball goes through the pully and catches on the thimble, they come with their own "retrevaballs" they are smaller than normal cambium saver ones. it seems like they have stuck the wrong sized thimble on and not included the balls. did it come as a complete set in a bag?
  13. thats the wrong ball, did the pull saver not come with 2 little red balls? mine did
  14. i don't think that shopping bag on his harness is for his butties and a flask of lady grey, might be wrong but i think he takes a shed load up with him. i really enjoy your vids reg, do you miss doing more broadleaved trees? i watched a big beech video you did near a house from back in the uk, some cracking rigging went on and bit different from what you seem to do now
  15. Get fitter, you may not have the experience to work a tree as methodically as an experienced climber but theirs no reason you can't beast youself round the tree as quick as one. Go and climb trees at the weekend and when the nights draw out get a quick climb in after work, climbing every day improved my abilities vastly. Get a cambium saver, or even better a Pully saver then in time learn Srt When rec climbing practice moving about the tree with just your legs, tend your rope with your hands but nothing else, no grabbing branches or pulling youself about. Getting right to the tips like this with no hands makes it really easy with hands Get comfortable with leaps and swings, start small and experiment Enjoy every day, even the crap ones

I'm also willing to work weekends. references can be provided if required if you think i may be of use to you, give me a call or txt on 07455230854 or email me @ [email protected] or give me a pm on here cheers for reading Ed
  17. Running bowline, choke it off at the top, Srt back up in the morning. That way no one can pinch your rope without getting to the top of the tree:) I know a few big redwoods that have a throw line left up them permanently, they've been trimmed down so the line ends at the top of the ladders when fully extended saves messing round each time
  18. I pay about 400 PL with tree surgeon insurance services
  19. They are doing Black Friday!! Check out their websites!!
  20. A "reputable" arb company based near me are know for felling any tree they wish, they then go an show a picture of a rotting stump or half dead tree to the council to justify it, they've never been questioned in 20 odd years. If I was you I'd write an apology letter to your tree officer explaining they where half dead and of little amenity value, and offer to replace the trees that where removed
  21. Crush it up of it smells like standard conifer it's not a Weston red cedar if it smells kind of soapy and nice it is:)
  22. Posting this for a guy i work for, he's sound bloke and needs a extra pair of hands for a few days a week. Subbie climber needed for a Wirral based company must be a confident and capable climber. Mixed bag of work, so must be able to rock the reductions, lovely with lowering, handy with hedge trimmers and a tidy connie topper. tickets up to 39 as a minimum 40 and 41 preferable need your own climbing gear, everything else can be provided having a tow license or pre 97 is also pretty vital his rates of pay are good and he doesn't ask the impossible of you if your interested call Justin on 07817 596665 or pm me if you need more details
  23. Sorry to derail but any chance you can get the name of that book? Books like that get me excited:) Reduce by 10% and mulch the root zone. If 2 trees close together have gone take a look for fungal pathogens that could have weekend the roots
