  1. I've had my protos since the 5/6th of last June, so about 5 months. It's the biggest waste of money ever and I'm massively disappointed in the build quality. When not in use mine has it's own little hook in my van it lives on so it dosnt get thrown about ever, however despite my care for it the sponge clip-in Insert that sits against your for head refuses to stay clipped in for more than half an hour. If the ear muffs arnt pushed back up inside the helmet when not in use they pivot in the bracket and then just slip out very easily, this usually happens just after lunch. To extend the chin strap you need to have the fingers of a double jointed child pianist, fiddly is an understatement! The straps come out of the little slots they sit in that keeps them orientated properly and then proceed to get twisted up. easy enough to sort out but I find I'm doing it every time I go to put the helmet on. And finally the clip on the back of the helmet that makes it sit tight on your head always gets flicked open by bits on twig getting underneath it. Mine smells like death already too.
  2. I spotted it on a laburnum the other day
  3. Fiddle with your hitch abit, I've found that if the wrench engages too much before the hitch grabs it can create too much friction at the wrench. Also buy a big shot
  4. Your wrong and he's right, trust me I passed my loler inspectors course last month
  5. Lots of sequins and a nice diamanté trim, it looks totally bedazzled
  6. It must be lovely to be a kiwi fan!
  7. Its more to do with manufactures recommendations, if manufactures say it's not fit to use after 5 years and a loler inspector go's and says it is, then the harness fails he won't have a leg to stand on in court. Just treat yourself, 300 quid every 5 years it would pay for it's self numerous times over!!
  8. I had front row seats for Twickenham tonight, the atmosphere was amazing right up to Farrell getting binned and then their was a mass exodus, really disappointed in the result. the Aussies where fantastic my money's on them to win. I think we should take notes on how to turn the ball over. Did someone mention armatige?
  9. Constructive! I think it's a disgrace, but I bet they all do it!
  10. I've heared a whisper that the company who build the arbortrolley for stein have fallen out with them. Their now selling the trolleys themselves. Could be complete bollox though..
  11. the wider you cast your net the more fish you catch?
  12. You need tighter t-shirts burdock!
  13. Couple of observations... You've got less surface area touching the tree with the smart winch than the grcs, surely that will decrease grip on the stem? Also as the grcs has a flat back and now comes with the mounting plate included it's fairly straightforward to cut a flat chunk out of a tree to mount the grcs on awkward shaped stems, is their any after market attachments to aid mounting the smartwhinch in such a manner? Also it's still a 2 man job to set up both devices as someone's got to hold the smart winch while you pull all the tail of the strap through. I don't believe that you can get as much tension on the mounting strap of the SW as the grcs with the little handle, but I am open to be proven wrong it just dosnt make sense to me. The ability to transfer from lifting to lowering without changing any thing is a fantastic however lowering with the winch on the grcs isn't really that much of a problem and it's great for pulling slack out of the system when negative rigging to reduce shock loading and in the instructional vid for it Greg Good does say it's ok, however I do appreciate you can where out the surface of the drum that way. Also by having the shorter drum on the smartwinch are you not limiting your lifting ability when using a fatter rope by not being able to get as many wraps on the drum.
  14. Does the new 201 chain brake get clogged up with gunk and stop working like the old one?
  15. Dylan heartly should be their too, he might be in the dog house but we need him, also Steffon armatige should be their he's the possibly the best in the world at what he does and we're ignoring him. As much as id like us to do well at this World Cup a part of me is looking forward to us losing so Lancaster can be given the boot and England can get the ball rolling in a better direction and become the best team they can be. Unfortunately for Danny cip I think he's abit to old to make it to the next world cup
  16. Is say the husky was more powerful but I'd be a little biased as all the 88's I've used have been absolute dogs and usually blunt
  17. If your doubting the integrity of those limbs just get a subbie climber in. They may look different in the flesh but I can't see their in anyway dangerous
  18. Go and give the dray a wiggle, if it squeaks leave it a couple of weeks, if not drop the bugger
  19. Never unless you run them over with the truck and can't bend them back
  20. When I did my cs41 I asked this question to the trainer, his answer was that their is no right or wrong way, as long as your ropes not getting smashed by the pully or burnt by the rope running over it underneath is ok. As is above asking as your not in danger of cutting your line it being shook off the stem. Personally I like above as it makes it easier to shuffle the block down ready for the next lump:) if your worried about being chucked off you need a new Groundie;)
  21. I took out a monster of one recently, 2 of us dug round it then we chocked a 19mm bull rope on it and pulled with a big 6 litre landcruiser, the rope snapped. Napalm was invented for plants like them!!!
  22. To the firms, it's a crying shame when the tree officer is actively lowering the standard of tree work being carried out in the area. I think in this case if complaints are falling on deaf ears and you don't want to do the work try writing a letter to the owner of the tree explaining why the work spec is poor and why you won't be doing the job.
  23. Ian Morgan, did a course with him and he was spot on!
  24. This kind of happening goes on allot in my neck of the woods, i know of a TO who still gives permission to companies who regularly spike prunes and have little to no understanding of what constitutes a pruning cut. It's laughable. Work is work, at the end of the day it depends how busy you are. maybe leave the pictures off your website though if you decide to go ahead
  25. Competent and confident freelance climber available for Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Based near Chester but willing to travel. Well rehearsed in everything from big rigging too subtle and sympathetic pruning. Also a dab hand with topping conifers and trimming hedges if needs be. I can supply all my own gear from top handle and climbing kit to big saws and a GRCS with enough ropes and pulleys too sink a ship. Nptc cs30,31,38,39,40,41.
