    cs40 or 41

so 41 is the bees knees then, how hard is the assessment because i have no real experience of rigging or dismantling?
  2. helloooo i passed my cs39 last week:biggrin: and i have some money saved to put me through my next certificate and i was wondering which would be better to get in the short term cs40 or 41? i intend to have both by the end of the year but i was wondering which would benefit me more in looking for a job once i leave collage in june?
  3. how much experience would you be looking for your climbers to have? im due to finish my college course in june/july and looking to travel to oz for a year i should be qualified up to cs40/41 but my working experience is only in grounding although i do allot of climbing in collage i no its not the same as working, but im very keen, pretty fit and a fast learner if you want to take a chance? if not its cool theirs no harm in asking:thumbup:
  4. every body else seems to have had a say on this so i thought id express the my opinion on the hole "Christian" topic im not a Christian (much to my mums disappointment) and i accept the fact that religion in its many shapes and sizes has been the driving force behind allot of atrocities through out the ages. and to an outsider allot of what people believe sounds like absolute balls. and their are still some horrible people lurking within religious circles using their position of power to abuse children or convince others to blow themselves up. but if the average joe finds comfort in having a little bit of faith that theirs something or someone looking out for them then let them enjoy it i say, life can be a massive challenge some people support them selves with god some do it with drink or drugs. aslong as your not hurting anybody then go for it! everybody else should just chill out a little bit! as a great man once said "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" and as a not quite so great man said "i gotta have faith, faith, faith..."
  5. im dyslexic... dont know why but it always seems to make things awkward after i leave clients a massage only joking... i dont have any clients
  6. how likely are they to hire somone with with cs30,31,38,39 but somone whos never used lowering equipment except as a groundy. never used a MEWP. but does have experience taking out reasonably large trees in africa?
  7. thats a good point, but if i was working for a bad company that was butchering trees i would probably try and leave without offending anyone. the company im grounding for at the minute are good and i worked for them for free for a long time then went on to a half wage untill i was worth the full whack!
  8. im fine with anything most really just don't want to be scraping minimum wage for braking my back everyday, but as you all say experience is everything in this game and in time ill get the skills to pay the bills
  9. 50s not that bad either really just might keep me stuck at home abit longer
  10. cheers fellas, 70 a day sounds pretty good to me, and i know i need more experience but im as motivated as can be so i just wanna get grafting now and make a good name for myself
  11. hello i was just wondering how much i would be looking at getting paid for being a climber. im in collage at the minute but im going to be looking for a 9-5, 5days a week 2nd climber/groundsman job for when i leave in june. ive been grounding for 2 years and im currently on 70 quid a day but the most i could ever get out of it is 2 days a week. ill have cs30.31.38. and 39(if i pass) and hopefully 40(if i can afford it) and a fist aid in the work place certificate. im a pretty good climber, fast, fit and quite competent but all my experience has been in college or climbing for my self doing small jobs for neighbours and friends. i dont want to be getting ripped off but i dont want to be expecting more than im going to realistically get cheers Ed
  12. anib lodge, on the edge of the Kalahari, its part of the gondwana collection, but i spent abit of time up in etosha aswell but that was strictly for fun, fighting lions and wrestling rhinos! it really ruins the uk when you spend time somewhere as far out as Namibia/south africa though!
  13. i spent last summer in africa, Namibia though not south africa. i was working in a game lodge their, they had an invasive tree from south america that they needed felling and taking out as it was messing with the water table and was spreading like wild fire best job ever except the saw had no chain brake band, a broken chain tension and i only had 1 year of collage to prepare me for it, good fun though. im sure you will love it! dont drive on the roads at night cos you will hit something and hyenas cant walk up stairs, all you need to no!
  14. hello ive got my CS39 training and assessment booked in for mid march but im going to get quite allot of time in trees with a saw before then and i was wondering if any of you new what cuts i should be practising or have any tips on things to practise? i always anchor in from 2 points when cutting and usual do a step cut then clean it off at the bark collar or use the bark ridge, or if needs must do a felling cut, is their another type of cut ill have to use? and when should i use each of these cuts? andd is if theirs anything else that i need to know your help will be much appreciated!
