  1. Lumberjake, Is that yale 13mm rope, how do you find the zigzag works with 13mm? Or any one else using one on 13mm. Got a zigzag on order, but would like to get a bit more use out of my current 13mm rope, marlow, before getting a new rope, maybe a smaller diameter. Thanks
  2. The last one`s around here where selling a copy of the mighty stihl 5200:lol: A customer had bought one, and when he unpacked it, he said it didnt say stihl like the one he seen in the back of the van. It was a silver mitsubishi shogun van.
  3. Like other`s have said, I buy saw`s and equipment local and to be fair to them their prices are as good if not beter as on line, and I would like to think they would look after me for buying the gear off them, but if there is not a big choice of clothing, boots, rigging, and climbing gear so shop around online.
  4. I`m guessing they said it`s exempt from plating and testing, ang lgv licence, because it`s regesteried as ag, but the use of it could say it may not come under the regs for ag exemption. If your working at private house`s, site clearence, for highways roadside, etc, you cant call that agricultural and claim that exemption.
  5. Hi jon, I normally use oregon chain, but some times husqvarna if thats what the dealer has loops in, on husqvarna saws. But I had some chains off chainsaw bars on here, and got sent a stihl rapid micro? i think, a semi chisel away for my 346xp, which I have been very impressed with hold it edge better than a husqvarna chain I would say, I`ll get stihl chain again, and probably try a full chisel to compare to oregon as well.
  6. Are they they same bar mount as a 372xp? I though about getting one, but I`ve got plenty of spare bars and chain for the 372 mount on 3/8ths. Thanks
  7. Unfortunately, ebay must of been desperate for their fee and let it run, 64 bidders £230.
  8. Had a carbon ext pole, first time it was used it vibrated very bad and started to get warm, was workind just down road from dealers so took it in, and picked it up later that day and he said the problem was to much grease packed in shaft:confused1:
  9. As others have said a stihl, I find the HT101 a brilliant tool, can`t see the 131 being much better but I`ve not used one. If you can afford it buy a new one, a bit of piece of mind you know where it came from (not stolen).
  10. Found a golf ball today, dont play golf, but now got a use for it. What did you do just drill a small pilot hole in it?
  11. I know it`s a pain attending the 35hrs of training, and aprox £250-300, but its cheaper than £12k, and carry on using your proven method?
  12. Above where the posts are there is a advert, then above that, the is a white box with a yellow box flashing "looking for firewood?" and "click here!", that bring up firewood suppliers directory. Thats the only firewood directory I can think of, if its not what you looking for please ignore me:lol:
  13. I seen some willow starting to bud this week, that was in north wales.
  14. I`ve got a pair, with a green top to them, had them over 12 months now, used on the ground and in the tree, with no failure`s yet. Took a little while to break them in but not too big a problem, over all I would say good value for money. I had cofra work boots in the past, and they where some of the best I`ve had, thats what made me look at their chainsaw boots.
  15. I`ve used that quicksteel, as linked above, and had good results as well. Just a note, make sure the surface is clean and oil free before using, a bit of carb cleaner should do the trick.
  16. Hi JON, I`ve got a migatronic, mxe 180 I think. I`ve had it 17 years no problem, runs off single phase, I`ve been told they use large coil winding, so they don`t need a fan to keep it cool for the same duty cycle as other welders, it is a heavy machine.

    Cpc

Thats the way I see it, the tree work your just driving to and from the job, logs your delivering a product.
  18. Craig.

    Cpc

The driver cpc is for drivers of vehicles larger than 3500kg ie 3501kg, who drive commercialy, you`ll need 35hrs of `training` before september 2014. If you complete the hours before sept `14, you won`t lose out because your card will still be valid to sept 2019. The is exemptions if you only drive incidentally, the example the powers that be give are, scaffolders drive to site put/take down scaffolding then drive home no dcpc needed, the same driver drops scaffolding off at different sites dcpc needed. The way I see it, in arb related jobs is drive to site, do job, load chip and logs and back to yard not needed, but go to job half way through have to go to tip off then back for more, or deliver logs out then you would need the dcpc. Might be worth a call to VOSA,as they will be enforcing it, to see if your business model comes under the exemption, to satisfy yourself(dont take my word:001_tt2:), they are usally very helpfull on the phone.
  19. " a problem with this web page caused internet explorer to close and reopen this tab"
  20. I`ve got a out of date norton, licence expired on here, arbtalk is running slower and I get a message when I first log on or change forums, or back to index saying some thing like "a problem with this site is causing it to close page and reopen". Cant get it to come up now I wanted to quote it! Seems to be OK on all other sites and forums, I`ve visted this evening.
  21. I`ve got a mate who adds 2 stroke oil to his golf tdi, and say there`s a definite improvement in his mpg, he stoped using it for a while and said the mpg droped off, started using again and the mpg got better again. I`ve got a massey ferguson 135, which the injector pump was a little suspect, the tractor stood for a long time dry of fuel. basically once the engine was warm, it did`nt tick over well, the last 12months i`ve been adding about 150ml of 2 stroke oil to the tank at refueling, and it runs a lot better on tick over.
  22. Sorry for the derail, but he`ll have to have time in the seat to keep the blue card when he gets it, or some one to sign the log book for him. As others have said all trades have got more people than jobs, best of luck to your son in law what ever he does.

    stihl 056avs

Thanks for the quick replys. I`ve got a second one that the coil went on, so got spares to have a play with if I go down that route.

    stihl 056avs

I`ve got a stihl 056 super electronic quick stop in good order, has anyone on here tweeked one, either a simple exhaust mod or a full porting job? Was it worth it? I use a 36" bar on it, but not very often ie not often to justify buying a new large saw (do I need to justify buying new shiny things:thumbup:) Your thoughts and experiences please. Thanks in advance.
