  1. Cheers mate! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. I was thinking borderfirewood would be Scottish Borders oops! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. I'd be interested in a price to South Cumbria
  4. I did just happen to notice in the Log Pro video thread that there's a guy managing to move 2 IBC's around on a pallet truck by himself if that means anything. I don't really have any other use for one so if I couldn't move 2 bulk bags/IBCs of logs in one go with it then it'd be a waste of money for me. Don't think I know anyone nearby that has one for me to borrow to try
  5. I'm thinking of getting a manual pallet/pump truck to help with moving bulk bags round, I could make better use of the space than I can with the tractor and pallet forks. i.e. get closer to the side of the building. Would it be reasonable to expect to be able to pull around 2 1m3 bulk bags of logs stacked one on top of the other with a pallet truck? I've never used a pallet truck before so don't know how easy it would be to pull and manoeuvre with that weight on. And how smooth does the floor need to be? It's concrete but not a super smooth powerfloated finish like you would get in a warehouse. Thanks
  6. in my limited experience buying crates of split logs... I bought some 1m3 stacked crates, put the logs in to brand new 1m3 vented bags and there was basically 1 bag per crate. Would be worse if I'd put in to older bags that had stretched a bit more.
  7. I did wonder if it might have some interest for milling/wood turning. Do you think it's worth cutting a portion off one side or the top to find out what it looks like once I've taken the other ash off it? I'm guessing it'll be very hard dense wood to cut through. Thanks for all the replies so far
  8. so just rip it out and get rid like you would if it were any other stump basically. There's another nearby but nothing growing out of that one
  9. What is this at the bottom of some Ash trees? Is it just part of the root system that's grown above ground? I'm assuming its solid wood in there. Any value or use for it? Thanks Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Gators are serious money and the ones I've driven seem gutless. Nice to be in a cab when it rains though. I prefer a quad and trailer for VFM
  11. Is the saw bench really likely to spin if it gets jammed? The old one we have never gets put on the tractor aside from to move it and it's never budged once when connected only by the PTO shaft. Although it is a very heavy beast.
  12. Mendiplogs likes big butts
  13. Wet but a bit warm for this time of year
  14. Got off quite lightly, expected a lot more trees to be down on our land than there is. This Ash tree went the only way it could of gone without doing damage to something else or landing on the road. The weather beat me to felling it Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. How much do these cost? I'm guessing a lot more than bags Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. I had mine outside all summer with a tarp thrown over just the top when there was wet weather due. Then bring inside for the winter. Had to leave a few outside under a tarp at the start of winter as not enough room inside but they didn't go mouldy as the wood was nice and dry before it was covered over! 17. Anyone on here grow Christmas trees? Is there a lot of maintenance involved or is it just a case of plant them and leave them to it? Only thinking small scale, maybe a couple hundred trees rather than thousands. Trying to weigh it all up. Got a couple of spare lumps of land we could use. Just looking for some first hand experience and advice if possible as I gather now is the time of year to be planting them. Cheers Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. I'd tell him to get knotted. Nearly a month has passed, you didn't give a warranty so it's his problem. As a non business seller I rarely sell anything on eBay but when I do I ask for cash on collection, cleared cheque or bank transfer. No Paypal. Stops eBay refunding without your say so.
  19. Cut a couple of trailer loads this weekend for the mother in law to make wreaths. Never made a wreath myself, don't think I'd have the patience for it
  20. Knocking 2 logs together to hear what it sounds like is what I do. Given up with moisture meters. Never sure on their accuracy and use it that infrequently that the batteries always gone flat when I come to use it
  21. Looks like a really nice versatile machine. Thanks for sharing
  22. Doesn't seem like it! She's getting a bulk bag with just Oak in this time Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Just had a call from one of my customers I delivered to last weekend. The classic "logs are too dry" so can I bring another load of slower burning wood she can mix in with it Bet this ice this morning will get the phones ringing for everyone on here
  24. And yes the large Ash tree behind is knackered and coming down soon if it doesn't fall down first!
  25. Would anyone know what the value of old timber beams are? We took a few in the attached photo off an old barn recently. I would imagine they would be used more for decorative false trusses/beams rather than anything structural? Not sure of the value. Thanks.
