  1. I know what you mean re the pale color for Field Maple but for me the sticks are too strait for Field Maple . I'm still going with Elm . 🙂
  2. I think they are the saw of choice for the " re badging " merchants . Most of the garden center type saws start off as a Zomax . You get what you pay for . As has been said many times before if you aske the Chinese to make a saw for £50 so you can sell it for £100 they will oblige . If you ask them to make a saw that could reasonably be sold for £500 I'm sure they could do that also .
  3. The cut face looks more like Elm to me and the bark has that greenish tinge like Elm . Usually Oak that diameter pale ring just under the bark and the the rest of the face is an even tan color . But just my stab at it from a photo 🙂
  4. The oil in the early stuff made it smell a bit like a chip shop but they did something/changed something and you don't get that now , at least I don't notice it .
  5. I think Ulmus .
  6. I would say the blueish stain is ferrus Nails or similar . The dark brown is natural heartwood ? I'm no expert though .
  7. All he needs to do is get Boris to represent him . Job done .😁
  8. I see Andrew ( ex prince ) has elected to be tried by jury . I think he will get ripped to shreads by a profesional cross examination . He looked pretty shit in an interview he aranged with one of his mates ! Stand a better chance if it was trial by combate me thinks . 😀
  9. Not Starting when hot is a symptom of possible low compression . When it gets hot the clearances open up to point where it wont support combustion . Pull the muffler off and have a look at the piston .
  10. Don't hold your breath re the grant of probate . Took over a year for my old Dads . The estate accounts have only been finalized yesterday . So best part of 18 months to sort .
  11. I just googled it .....🙂
  12. The swans and for that matter the geese tolerate the heron it seems .
  13. Better still mini digger with a corkscrew splitter .
  14. Optional 🙂
  15. Yes ! He must be Darlene 😃
  16. Nice one John . What is the requirement nowadays re bar length/saw capacity for this course . I see you had a Husqvarna with an 18" ?
  17. Oi oi then Mark . How is the the surgery healing up bud ? Good I hope . Regards Andy .

It’s going as well as can be expected mate, but I’m a fair way off getting back to work properly.

I can use the saw and work the splitter no problem, but need someone with me lifting and shifting the timber.

Got a couple of loads of chip to deliver when I can meet the farmer to get loaded.

Kit serviced and workshop is tidy!

Just can’t climb, lift anything, drag or chip yet!

I’ll get some jobs done next week with the guys basically doing the work and me just driving.

Can’t do any training apart from my physio, which I’m missing.

Lifting wine bottles and lager cans is going pretty well….

Lifting my wallet is even easier, it’s bloody empty!

  21. Well Mutters , you have the advantage over the rest of us as you are there , on site as it were but , I am a bit disappointed because I thought you knew definitively what the species was not a stab like the rest of us from a pic 😁
