  5. As Mick says once you loose a bit it goes out of balance . Then the decline starts .
  6. The old " rule of thumb " is that if you divide the cc of the saw by 3 that will give you max bar lenght ( in inches ) .
  7. Holm oak on the otherhand burns a bit like coal . I like it but usually mix Oak with other stuff and it needs to be 5 years old sesoning .

  9. Ok . I would not go bonkers on the tip top kit to start with just in case you find the work not for you . If on the other hand you take to it you still have something functional and you can then earn some wonga and go for Pfanner etc etc if you want .

  12. Yep . I have never been a fire wood merchant but back in the day you could order a cord of wood from West Dean Estate and that's what you got .

  15. Sok Mick . But thank you . He was one of many that could not be visited due to covid stuff . Died in the old folks home and I never got to see him . Done his bit on carriers during the war in the Fleet Air Arm . He knew I loved him . I wanna die before I get to that stage . Alas I have a strong ticker !

  17. Yea but it was what it was Mick . I had to sit on the ground with him poor old bugger . A bit of dementia was probably of a benefit in that situation as he had no real concept of time .
