  1. Fantastic fire wood when seasoned but----not for open fires as you will need a new carpet after one evening !
  2. Not acceptable . Luckily I have not had any of the problems you have had . Strange as I must have had my 560 10 months ? It is a 2011 saw.
  3. I always use a mechanical splitter . The outer grain is helical and the center is strait , nightmare to split by hand but wonderful woopd to burn .

  5. I use DM chainsaws " own " brand . Been using it it for ages , never let me down . Cheaper than Stihl or Husky and has those convenient graduations on the bottle .
  6. One or two 254s on ebay . Spud might help .
  7. Yep I have noticed that . Not taken any out but they all look sick in my area including 2 that did not leaf this spring .
  8. Wood can be well seasoned and still be wet . Keep it under covered but allow the air to get to it . Moisture meter is a good idea . I have logs that are 8% moisture that have been in the log basket all summer and the same batch out in the log store that read 25% .

  11. I'm sixty in January , the 20th to be precise . Its my back when I first start and it eases during the day . I get whicked cramp in my thighs and hands now in the evening/ night and my jaw aches from gritting my teeth . Ho hum
  12. I would be to Mick if I sat down . Dog to walk daughter to collect from school , sharpen up ,dinner to cook ( have a shower whilst dinner is on ) . Count my blessings , there are far worse off than me I know .
  13. Working with big saws all day yesterday and today ( 395 and 390 ) Big 4 big oaks and 3 bigish field maples . All down chipped and ringed up . Huge bonfire . Now completely knackered . Will be ready ior bed by 9.00 me thinks . up again at 6.00 to do it all again !! Seriously though it does get to me now I am an old git !

  15. If its hoonining down first thing and no chance of it lifting we stop home . If it clears before 10/10.30 we sit tight till then . So its you that's clogging up the work shop at DMs then ! Matt looked a bit under the cosh .

    Got a Husky 560 ---- best 60cc saw I have ever had and I have had a few !
  20. Why not hit the middle then ---390 . Its like a slightly bigger 372 with almost the power of the 395 ?

  23. Second that . I have 3120,395 and 390 . The 3120 only comes out if absolutely necessary . Its on a 50" bar so hopefully once a year at the most . The opther two I am happy to pick up any time .
  24. I think you keep on learning all the time , so really you continually gain experience . Its all relative . As you say, if you think you can do a good job you probably can so go for it .
