  1. If you feel you have to remove any limbs leave the last cut to just in front of the collar then it will heel properly. Sorry if you know that .
  2. Sadly no . I was there when the late " Hizzy" lapped quicker than a gp bike on his Ducati . My claim to fame is being quicker than Ron Haslem round redgat on my 929cc blade , but slower than him every where else !
  3. Love mine . best 60cc saw I have ever owned . run mine with an 18" Bar .325 . pitch full chiz . Mine has had a tweek by petemate who rweeks auto tune Huskys . Warm start is not a problerm for me . one pump of the primer bulb one pull of the cord . Thats all you do . The ignition switch resets to on as soon as you press it off so no need ever to think about " turning it on " Got a Husky hedge cutter the same . All in all an absolute stonker of a saw . Oh keep the 254. Out the 353 . Thats how I see it any ways .
  4. Have the opp , it a doddle . Its day surgery in and out . A few stitches in your hand . I had it done and never looked back . Mine was caused/manifested itself buy motor bike track days . .
  5. What about a sea saw or a cold saw ? No seriously 550/560 if you have the dosh . Good alternative would be second hand 346/357 and pay spud to port it . Again you would not be dissapointed .
  6. Sounds as though you might be on it with a carb kit/clean . Spud will be on sometime he will point you in the right direction >

    560 xp

Yea I had that . Its the auto tune . It shut mine down comletely . It could not come to terms with me fitting an 8 pin rim . once I put it back to a 7 and reset the auto tune buy cutting full width of the 18" bar in some big ash for 3 mins it is back to working fine . It now is a complete ripper after the work done on it by Petemate .

    Creosote .

Ok I hear you . Have just opened up a tub of stuff I have had for years " Langlows " I think it is called . Brings back memories from when I was a keeper . Used to paint all kinds of stuff with it . Partridge cages and pheasant pens etc etc . I think its the best .

Yea . If it was an average saw you would sling it back and look at some others but when its running good its such a stonker don't you think ?

    Creosote .

Can you still buy real creosote ? Not the " sustitute " but the proper stuff . I know its supposed to be carciogenic but Hey I am 60 nearly now and I love the smell . Have tried these fence paints but would like the real stuff . Any one ?
  11. I had CTS in my right hand years ago . I had the opp , day surgery and its fin now . I would have thought any kind of work that pumps up the for arm / wrist area would not help . The reason I say this is CTS is is caused by there being too little room for the nervs and tendons to pass through the carpel tunnel in the wrist area and when you " pump up " it constricts even more causing the numbness the loss of feeling . the opp opens up that area to allow more room for the nervs and tendons when you work that area . Or have I got it wrong all these years ??

    Blower advise

I am a Husqvarna saw man but have always used the Sthil BG 85 to good effect . It is a hand held as opposed to a back pack .
  13. I have a screw type splitter with its own engine and the whole thing is road towable . It is good on easy sdplitting stuff , syc, ash etc and is way faster than my hydraulic splitter. I find its best on large rings and as stated just push the ring on to the tip and let it do the rest . If uyou feel you have to hep/guide it make sure you keep your right hand out of the way . If it flipps the ring your left hand will just get lifted away but your could get a wallop . This is assuming it rotates clock wise when facing the cone .
  14. Thanks for all the replys . I have done the room volume calculation to see what kw stove to use and it seems to be smaller than I thought . I did try a small one a few years back but it was not s good as my open fire ( Honestly ). The other danger is to fit too larger stove so that you have to stand in the garden to cool off . I know you have to burn hard for a while each day to keep it clean and burn off any snot and crud up the flu . Then there is the other variable in as much as I open up all the doors and let the heat all around the house . I am worried 5kw will be a little short but 8kw may be too much ! -- tricky one !
  15. Not what you got -- it's how you use it (they say )
  16. Ok Steve I get the idea ! Cheers bud
  17. Its 9inch here unless the customer specifies anything else . If they do its usually 12 inch .
  18. After reading several posts describing the benifits of a wood burner over an open fire I have decided its time to do it . My open fire burns well with no visible smoke out side but a good yellow flame from the logs . I have been advised though that efficiency is down as allot of my heat goes strait up the chimney . I accept this ok . Now I have been looking and studying and it seems a " Burley Brampton 19908 " 8kw stove would suit . They look good on the video and the reviews are top banana ! Has any one on this site got one of these or knows some one who does ? --Just need the last shove !
  19. treble two fifty has a very flat trajectory I seem to remember should do the trick if you spot him . Seriously though it's a bummer when you godda have eyes in the back of your head . I stopped for an ice cream and someone took a saw out of the back of the chipper never saw a thing . Hope you get it back .
  20. Second that . MUST be kept in the dry . Its like a sponge if you don't. Burns fine if you do.
  21. My mate who does all the climbing buys cheap toe tectors from the local tool hire shop . he gets pair for about £18 and maybe buys a pair every 2 years . He says its cos he can't be arsed with all the lacing when putting on / taking off !
  22. Just got back from Kenedy Space center last week . So fresh in my mind . R.I.P.
  23. Hi Ted. Hope you have a good trip . Looks like you will be leaving just in time to dodge that hurricane that might be heading to Florida !
