  1. This looks familliar Tony... has it been posted before...?
  2. Did you manage to sell your RW in the end...?!
  3. I already have a Croll..... this is getting cheaper all the time....! How can I NOT do this...?! I did have reservations about where the hell to keep a handled ascender during work, they are some big muthas.... This sounds like a good solution... So, RW, dogbone tether, footpro, sling & pantin....
  4. That will be arse, how much was my multisaver, 60 something quid...? Think it's only been used once!!! Bugger....! I have a very short hitch, I use a 75cm 8mm Yale e2e in a VT which is super short, but looking at it I reckon a 150mm dogbone will do the job.... although for the cost of them I might get a couple of different lengths to have a play with.... Might just ask Santa for this lot.... could add a Petzl double handed ascender & Footpro to the list as well, then we'd really be motoring:001_tongue:
  5. I've got a row of connies to take out down a driveway over a telephone line. It's simple spike up, cut and chuck then chog down. A constant source of annoyance for me is having a tidy Ddrt back up / descent line in place when chogging down which is easy to take down with me, I can never find a neat way of attaching to the stem so I end up cluttered.... Unless anyone can come point me in the direction of a minimalist solution to this using the kit I have I'm thinking that SRT would be a good solution for this. I know ascent is supposed to be where SRT really wins but I've never found bodythrusting ddrt to be a major issue to me... besides, I'm getting podgy round the middle so need all the exercise I can get.... I climb Ddrt on an HC/Aeris which is supposed to be good for SRT, so all I need is an RW & tether [& pantin if I want to go back up] right....? What length Quickdraw sling you decide on in the end Adam....? Am I doing the right thing here....? In my cost conscious mind I'm not shelving any of my existing kit, just adding to it, with the exception of my MultiSaver perhaps, but that will still be used if I work ddrt.... so opening up the world of SRT and dabbling with the RW appeals to me more than a mechanical hitch system....
  6. Saw this on Clark's site this evening.... would it do the trick....? Swings to both sides apparently.... a true party animal....
  7. That is indeed a shaky argument... by that reasoning we should be punting missiles over into Wales..... Hmmm.... not a bad idea now I think of it....

    Knife attack

I can't see how anyone could make a strong case against the death penalty for scumbags like that..... summary execution, no bag over the head, job done, the streets would be a safer place.....
  9. Anaesthetising pigs and shooting them in the arse then getting patched up by proper surgeons....? All sounds pretty humane to me.... Halal on the other hand... Doesn't seem very humane to me... in fact I'd go so far as to say it's deliberately inhumane, the polar opposite of what happens to the pigs by our surgeons.... So I reckon the analogy stands....
  10. Not as much as I should be... I'm still carrying my notebook around everywhere with me, but I'm very much stuck at the moment...
  11. Dude! I'm a shower of sh**..... It's sitting on the backburner at the moment, I need to find a few hours to get across to the firm doing the prototype to see whether they've made any progress..... Time is the one thing I'd buy at the moment if I could! It's still there though....!
  12. I know it's a blast from the past but I missed this thread the first time around.... Pete, do you know whether this GTW rule applies to post '97 licenses...? I was looking at buying a trailer and I was considering one specifically plated to the add up to 3.5t behind my 2t Discovery.... but if it genuinely is that it's GTW as weighed which determines legality, then I'll just buy a decent second hand trailer and make sure I keep below the maximum gross train weight.....
  13. I'd throw away that metering diaphragm and get a new one, it looks a bit 'baggy', get a new gasket aswell. Flip the carb over, take the screw out and replace the reed pump diaphragm and gasket as well.... Aerosol carb cleaner is essential for this job, an air compressor makes a big differece as well....
  14. The 019 isn't running great on 60 psi Steve.... it's utterley gutless, you won't cut anything with it... unless very patient and using a technique similar to the bloke in that McDillen video..... On completion I'm aiming for the 130 psi you suggested is needed for a saw engine to run properly.... not sure what these normally run at but it's some way off that at the moment!
  15. 009 Rob, not 090...
  16. I have Meindl Dovre Extreme for shooting, lovely boots, perfect in every way if bit restrictive for driving but it's doable.... I manage but my car's auto....
  17. What the hell did he do...?! That's beyond double checking, that looked more like unclipping everything and throwing himself off...?!?!
  18. I thought that Dave, was entertaining though.... but then I like You've Been Framed.... people falling over still makes me laugh like a drain.....
  19. Cheers Barrie. I'll have a look at the bore when it's apart, I haven't had the cylinder off yet but there didn't seem to be any obvious sign of transfer of material on the piston / rings looking through the exhaust port, so I'm hoping that a new cylinder & piston won't be required. I'm optimistically following the assumption that the rings are just a bit tired. I'll price up the new crank seals, I'm not expecting them to be prohibitively priced, I've only used genuine Stihl parts thus far from my local dealer for this saw and none have been eye wateringly expensive.... Should end up a nice little saw when it's finished.... If not the prettiest... Thanks, Simon
  20. I quite fancy one of these on my 460..... for the odd occasion it would be preferable to cut on the pull rather than left handed or on the push.... Quick question for all you tech whizzes.... 019T.... Have stripped the carb, all new gaskets & diaphragms fitted. Saw starts OK, not brilliantly, and runs fully choked & full throttle. Won't idle though and has poor compression, about 60 to 70 psi IIRC.... I put both these issues down to a fairly serious air leak and wear in the rings. The 019 crankcase is a single casting to which the cylinder bolts down, it doesn't split down the middle, so I'm going to strip it, fit new rings, replace the bottom gasket and carb gaskets. There's no impulse line, it feeds through a hole in the carb mounting plate. Is there anything else I should consider while it's apart? What about the crank oil seals? Presumably they could be allowing air into the crankcase? I don't have pressure or vac testing equipment and have no immediate plans to invest in it.... I'd need to replace a lot of gaskets to make buying the kit cheaper...! Thoughts appreciated...
  21. Avoid chaps, they're a pain in the bare arse, basic chainsaw trousers are only a pittance more and INFINITELY more comfortable, not to mention a good deal safer.... the protection afforded by chaps seems to me to be completely cancelled out in the massive snag hazard they create .....
  22. Aaahh...
  23. What you need to do is speak to Rob.... Chainsawbars ? bars, chains and chainsaw accessories
  24. Comparison websites are often crap, you frequently find loads of the prices listed are actually the same firm as well eventually.... Speak to specialists, but insuring a commercial vehicle for business use won't be as cheap as a car you take the Mrs out in, it's all down to risk....
  25. Errrr...... what was the first post in the thead all about then...?
