  1. I built a massive wicker man last year (I'll post photos soon hopefully ) and ' jumped the ashes '..... hasn't worked yet
  2. lol!! youve got my sense of humour :laugh1
  3. You know your strengths.. keen, enthusiastic, willing to learn, punctual, hard worker ? etc.. oh nice Plummer terrier btw
  4. I'm fuming with espn.. stopped nhl ice hockey and now more italian soccer for the sheep.
  5. Hi Blackbomber , Doing your cs30/31 would be a good start, very basic but well worth it. Having worked with hand tools all your days i dont think you will find it a difficult course. You could do alot worse than advertise your services on here You could also do a bit of ' wood vulturing ' and get cutting up some firewood to get you using a saw on a regular basis .
  6. I believe i have as much right to use the LA's chipper as they do , now that were competing for the same work ? Level playing field , right ? Ran out of time today but I'm definetely going in next week to find out .
  7. Sam , the concern is that they are not stopping every 5 mins for coffee breaks etc . We could be talking about motivated , well equiped , highly trained teams with the backing to wipe the floor with private firms in an unbalanced playing field. I dont go along with the idea they are all lazy and they'll mess up .
  8. I use it as part of a 13mm 1.6m split tale onto main line of same diameter . ' bights ' very tightly so smaller dia would be no use . Was concerned with how it was releasing under load when my main climbing line got soaked in a heavy shower. Care needed tying it when fatigued. Really trustworthy knot though with virtually no redressing.
  9. Its a matter of weighing up the risk of cutting your soft link ( which if too long as i have stated before can be in a very vulnerable position ) or having a more difficult rescue if directly attached . These soft links MUST be kept very, very short or your completely defeating the purpose of a wire core flip line . I think this should be the climbers choice .
  10. Your not Pamela Andersons gynaecologist are you ?
  11. Hope this is not a wind up cos I'm going to knock on their door tomorrow What frustrates me is i see it bloody parked up all the time at their yard while i dump my emmm help a friend get rid of his arisings
  12. That is quite odd then, they may have had a bad experience in the past and its just protocol now .
  13. Its got nothing to do with the amount of employees one has . Standard procedure for big companies in risk type business.
  14. Its for Alligators though !!
  15. I see our LA boys towing a nice new timberwolf chipper about that I've help fund and badly need for my own business . Now that were all one team should i now get access to this machine or get some sort of tax rebate?
  16. If your thinking of a petition , my name will be there.
  17. Yeah and puts dedicated , work conscious tree boys who have invested thousands on training and uquipment out the game... shamefull
  18. I'm appaulled by this , its morally wrong on every level .
  19. I would build it with a little apex thingymijig , atrium ? at the front before you get into the main tent , get the muddy boots off first and would mean you could cook in it aswell
  20. Maybe worth trying to get some pics of the weeds just in case.
  21. When the main climbing line is wet i would imagine that this knot would be easier to release under load than a blakes for instance that would bight the main line too tightly under load and release too quickly.
  22. Yeah it was stubby , shame because it felt a really nice well balanced saw with the 18" on it . Hopefully stihl can get a proper repair on it eventually .
  23. Me and the wife are off somewhere soon hopefully, only thing i know for certain is it wont be Australia
  24. Hope so rob, 2 weeks ago i watched my mates new 261 explode in his hand . Poor showing from stihl
  25. Just be careful here swinny , i didnt think mines would see much use but i use it all the time .
