  2. Joe bought a new or nearly new hilux a few months back we'll say 20k . He is going to spend roughly 2.5k on tickets. We havent even looked at the extensive tools and equipment yet to even start competing with established tree firms. Get real chaps .
  3. Been asked before this question and somebody replied with £30k which i reckon wouldnt be far out.
  4. Who said romance was dead ?
  5. Hi Pete , I'm a huge fan of the Grand tours aswell . There was a question on here recently asking what arboriculture was . In a nutshell its man interfering with nature either in a good or bad way i may add but interfering none the less.
  6. Now why arent people like that honoured ? It does my head in . What an impressive find that was Sam.
  7. DAVID THOMPSON !!!! Your possibly looking at one of possibly the greatest geographer of all time . The accuracy of his mapping of Canada still astounds experts to this day . Now there is a guy i would call Sir !!

Me and the wife bubbling aswell . Superb film.
  11. Hi baggy, Hudsons Bay company took over North West Company in 1821. One of my great heroes John Rae an Orcadian ( orkney man ) joined HBC shortly after. The company used orkney men for many generations because of their toughness and resoluteness for hardship. John Rae was all of that and more and was the first ' whiteman ' to recognise that the native eskimo were a peacefull and intelligent race and not 'savages' as they were then labelled. There is a great little book called ' Fatal Passage ' about John Rae and what life was like in ' The Great White North ' at that time.
  12. LOved the passion in your words there stereo, good on you
  13. Can start a new thread on the ethics of hunting if youse like, not on this one though .thanks for the replies
  14. I knew a landy would be in there somewhere !! Dont spend too much time thinking
  15. Not sure if this has been posted before but here goes anyway. I'm sure there are many on here well and truly in mid-life and beyond , i wouldnt call it a crisis but you realise time seems to fly by and the things you must do to make your life complete must happen sooner rather than later. Mines would read something like ... Completing some of the portage trails in wild Canada, epic sled dog journey of Iditarod proportions , visiting the giant redwoods , training a top class trotting horse , a whale encounter . I'd be really interested to know whats on your lists
  16. I've got a stein super plasma and it has 5 quite large vents on top. These are covered by a fine mesh gauze but I'm sure it would be no trouble to remove this and pull some of the dreadlocks through thus managing to get the helmet on. You would look like an extra out of Alien but your not on a fashion shoot after all.
  17. £300 quid for a just run in 346xp ? Thats a bargain is it not ?

    Louise

Yes it is , but remember you will not have any regrowth if you dont have a deer control strategy ( there is some good lads that know their stuff on here that can advise you on that ).

He is a beauty , thanks very much . I forgot to add you could extract the timber ( especially if its only coppice size ) with a pony , no problem if its a good site.

Hi Louise, there is nothing to be scared of using a chainsaw, with the right usage and ppe they are a very , very safe tool. Take the basic cs30/31 and do some of the coppicing yourself ( you know you want to )
  22. Hi Lee , I traded a superb isuzu duty and superb golf tdi for a blingy L200 warrior , a mistake of the most monumalistic proportions
  23. Hi baggy, I dont think they would have varied alot certainly amongst people in the same canoe. Could you imagine someone with double the size of everyone else dipping it into the hooch ? lol Its on my bucket list to do some of the portages in Canada would be an adventure of a lifetime. There would be natives in Quebec that will kill you for one of those cups there that good imo
