  1. It's a willow, Salix caprea
  2. Isuzu were contacted and told of the problem and insisted on sending out someone even tho they were told it could not be fixed on site (wasting my mates time as it meant more time off work) then they decided it needed to be recovered and taken in to the dealers. I think he said they ended up replacing the turbo and the dp filter but said they had to charge him for the filter! I told him what a fool I thought he was, it hadn't even reached it first service interval. If it had been my truck I would of said come and get it and don't bother bringing it back.
  3. I have a mate who bought a new Dmax, he absolutley loved it until this problem with the paticulate filter happened allowing the engine to rev up to the limit until something gave. now hes looking to get rid before its even 12 months old.
  4. Looks like direct damage to me?
  5. Oh well, maybe have more luck in the next world cup.
  6. Come on argie's win me some money!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Are you sure they are not grafts?
  8. I have just got some arborist type c, they are medium and the size says 36''.
  9. One match away from the money!!! whoop whoop
  10. I hope not! I've got a tenner on the argie's. Don't panic I didn't choose them, I pulled em out of a hat for the sweep.
  11. Jes! there no hiding place. ha ha
  12. No not honey fungus, more like polyporus sqamosus
  13. You haven't got a leg to stand on! Pay the fine, learn the rules.
  14. Have a look at L&S engineers website they are pretty good.
  15. I have just had exactly the same job for the in laws, significant reduction or remove. I have just done a good reduction with secutares and it seems to be doing ok. Also brought a smaller one back from the dead- it had been left in a pot and not watered and was in a real poor state. I smashed the old pot of it, carefully cut open the root bound ball, removed all deadwood and repotted, after a couple of years with some tlc it came back well. Only for the garden table to blow over in high winds and snap it in half leaving me to cut it off at a 4'' stump which is now coming back into leaf . So in my experience they are quite forgiving to work with, I would go for the reduction, you have nothing to lose.
  16. My experiences of them (10 years+ ago) is that they are awful, more trouble than they are worth.
  17. I would advise you to hire a qualified arboriculturist It sounds as though you have had some advice given to you by people who don't really know what they are talking about fully. removal of trees can cause problems with subsidence and more rarely ground heave, however there are some investigations that can be done to estimate the likelihood of this, the water demand of the tree? and clay content of the soil? are main factors. Yew is generally a very tolerant species to hard pruning and reduction by half although quite severe in tree pruning terms will have a good chance of surviving and grow back without much issue. regards M
  18. I think you will find that there isn't! Only one other centre registered to do the level six and I don't think for much longer.
  19. Is the tree a Prunus padus by any chance? If so the caterpillar will be Yponomeuta evonymella = bird cherry ermine moth, repeated defoliations will damage the tree. quite fascinating at first, quickly becoming a nuisance
  20. You would certainly get some strange looks driving it home up the motorway.
  21. I recently bought this one Garden Tools - Pressure Washers - PW 1700 SPM - BLACK+DECKER Garden Tools Product Details It cost about £140 but not a bad little thing for washing the car and patio areas, garden walls, stone steps, windows, doors, garage door, climbing kit, boots, bbq, brick work, kids, wife, mountain bike and next doors drive. You have to be careful........ its hard to know when to stop.
  22. I wasn't questioning your expertise Paul, just wondered where you got the list from and how accurate it is, It is a good quick reference. MM
  23. Good post jules! A well respected tree man told me to read, listen and learn all the research and evidence that has been produced by the leading figures in arb, bring that information together with your own experiences and come to your own conclusions. That advice often inspires to learn more- trying to make my own experiences make sense I guess. MM
