  2. Its not sweet fern, just similar shape leaf. Good luck
  3. Sweet fern?
  4. "I know nothing!"
  5. The issue is that the guard has been tied open with wire.
  6. Omg, are you saying you let other people in your shed? I need to go and have a lie down in a dark room.
  7. Its probably caught in the side of the piston. Try getting hold of it with some needle nose pliers through the exhaust port, may have to turn fly wheel back/forth to release it. Failing that you will have to remove the cylinder, its all good fun.

    Fake or not?

It doesnt look like a fake to me. How much is it?
  11. I guess you are right. I have just done some searching in an attempt to anwer my own question and ended up with five new questions.
  12. Only joking gary. As you mention towards the end of your post it could seem logical (to me anyway) that in some instance there could be some disruption or possibly the tree trying to get the most energy it can to combat the decay before winter?.. Possibly.
  13. From my vague memory i thought it was the apical meristems thats that controlled the auxins, so they come from the top down. Cytokinins up from the roots. Could be wrong, dont care. Your not answering my question.
  14. I have noticed this in two separate locations recently, ash trees which have a significant amout of fruiting pholiota squarrosa at the base and the tree is in full leaf looking very healthy and lush, no signs of turning brown or losing leaf and other ash trees in the immediate vicinity with no signs of fungi have really turned. Is there any link to this or is it just a coincidence? Ive not done any research just thought id ask the question on here first. Thanks.
  15. Nothing wrong with a good bit of banter between mates it helps the day pass and can make all the difference on a crap job. Practical jokes can be taken too far and often entail some runt being bullied by bigger boys. I like to think I have a good sense of humour but somethings mentioned here are way over line, especially at work. I wouldn't joke about getting hurt in this job as with my luck I would probably get hurt soon after and everyone would laugh. I worked with a lad who cut his arm quite bad with a chainsaw whilst in a tree, luckily he got himself down no problem as I rushed for the first aid box. Once I had covered myself up with the space blanket and had a sweet drink I wasn't too bad.
  16. Ok, ill do the thinking and let you do the typing
  17. Thats what i meant
  18. Tree lowering its defences- maybe not the best explanation, but hopefully you understand what im trying to say
  19. I might be wrong but i didnt recall her mention saprophotic fungi although it would also apply. I just interpreted it as latent fungi waiting for an opportunity to become active. This could be the tree lowering its defences due to stress/damage - not necessarily just decaying dead wood.
  20. Good point there. You often get teething problems with stuff when brand new. Buying nearly new from a trusted source for a good saving could be worth while as long as its not been abused.
  21. Lynne Boddy talking about fungi commnities on the radio- the life scientific. She makes some interesting points. She starts about 3 mins in. BBC Radio 4 - The Life Scientific, Lynne Boddy on Fungi
  22. Good tunes mick but i was thinking more, [ame] [/ame]
  23. And another.
  24. Ive had both the steel stanley and thermos, both were good while i had them. My bro nicked em both. Ill ask him.
