  1. Did my open water in Australia many years ago. My girlfriend was a bit seasick and she vomitted through the respirator 18m down. We got to see plenty of fish though as they all came and ate the spew. One of the days diving was postponed due to a storm so the instructors took us all to the pub. Two blokes came In who's fishing boat had capsized in the storm and they swam the two miles to shore.....And then they went for a beer!
  2. Nice one. There are so many out there like you said. I'll have a trawl through for the best deal for my circumstance. I'll be covering quite a few area codes so I may go with an 03 national style number.
  3. Who is it with? Do you get any drop out in areas that don't have good mobile internet?
  4. Does anyone use a virtual phone number to keep your personal and your business numbers different? I don't have a landline and was thinking of an 01 or an 03 number that diverts straight to the mobile.
  5. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder I installed this recently after a pricing discrepancy. Regarding the legal side of things, I read into it and apparently as long as it's only for your personal use for a record of transactions etc then it's fine. This one records automatically and then gives you the choice of saving it with some written notes for future reference. You can also set it so it doesn't record calls to/from certain numbers. It will also be useful for recording customer details when taking a hands-free call when driving.
  6. Brilliant replies everybody. Thanks. "Protection does not apply to hedgerows in or marking the boundary of private gardens." And "(3) These Regulations do not apply to any hedgerow within the curtilage of, or marking a boundary of the curtilage of, a dwelling-house" That seems to cover my arse twice. Bye bye hedge.
  7. No mate. Not in a conservation area. Bog standard round the garden hedge 1.8 high. 2 at its highest. Backs on to a farm track. Hawthorn. Phoned council to see and they wanted me to send a planning enquiry form. Nowhere on the form has it reference to hedges anyway. I'd take it out but some biddy neighbour would complain.
  8. Im just checking with you guys who know the rules. Do we have to get permission to remove a domestic hedge? Ive been trawling through the boredom of The Hedgerows Regulations 1997 and as far as I can see you don't. "(3) These Regulations do not apply to any hedgerow within the curtilage of, or marking a boundary of the curtilage of, a dwelling-house" Theres always exceptions though!
  9. "In ancient times...."
  10. At University I did an essay on phytoremediation using water hyacinth to remove heavy metals from polluted water. My mate did his on the uptake of gold from gold mine tailings. Can't remember which plant he used I'll have to ask him.
  11. For your information. A minor point came to light when I was looking at the Arb Associations Terms and Conditions template. The first item reads 1) Notice of the Right to Cancel “Cooling off period” – the client has a min. 14 days to cancel the contract (in writing) from acceptance date. I queried this with the AA as it reads like the cooling off period is limitless. They were very quick to reply and rectify this so the new template has been changed to - 1) Notice of the Right to Cancel “Cooling off period” – the client has 14 days to cancel the contract (in writing) from acceptance date Its a small change but could have implications for your business in the event of a dispute. A question for you all though. What happens to this cooling off period when you have a rapid response to an instruction to work. Say someone accepts the quote and you complete the work within the 14 day period? Is there an amendment to the T&Cs that you use or is it something that is written on the quote?
  12. Some useful information here from both Ty and Stumpy. Stumpy, what kind of distance from your base do you cover doing only stumps?
  13. Me and my mates have started a band. We're called 1023MB cos we haven't got a Gig yet.
  14. I confess I haven't really been getting on with it at all. I've been trying to get the rest of my life on track which is coming together slowly. Back on the bike though so we are all good.
  15. The only album I don't really bother with is 4 way Diablo. But then it's better than most music out there! New album release in March and it promises to be pretty heavy! Saw them in Newcastle last year. They are touring again in the summer. Closest to me is Glasgow so I'll make a trip across the border. What I like about apps like Spotify is when it suggests New bands because of the ones you've listened to so yes I know fu Manchu. Black nasa is another favourite.
  16. I'd buy a bottle of whiskey......and then probably a hippopotamus on eBay.
  17. And funny enough this was taken in June!
  18. 2018 is my year. Cos 2017 was shit. Have a good time boys and girls.
  19. When I see people on their phones while driving I slam on the horn which gives them a cheeky little shake up. Only when it's safe to do so of course
  20. I hate IT....... Stupid computers.
  21. I hate it when there are 15 dog shits and a pile of horse shit on the quarter mile walk to take the bairn to school.
  22. I've just snorted whiskey out of my nose. Thanks for that!!
  23. Fussy bastards!!
