  1. Same guy took me for my 31!
  2. Not just me then Stereo! Last Christmas I went to a function and polished off 7 pints and 3 bottles of red. Needless to say I wasn't very well.
  3. Swim the channel.
  4. Could it be Populus alba with a red lichen covering, like seen on Ash sometimes?
  5. Wait.....do your hobbies include boxing, skateboarding, running......and wearing Tupperware pants?
  6. Just heard the window cleaner screaming and shouting outside my house. I think he's lost his rag!
  7. Check out Barclays!! I struggled to say the number!
  8. Thanks for putting this on. Ive got a woodland management assignment for college and this looks like it could be really helpful.
  9. There are some crazy people in the world!
  10. Good answer man, but I'm filling up with whisky and getting more concerned with checking out Tea Leoni on Bad Boys than managing ancient woodlands! I've been distracted!
  11. Reading the original post the management aim was Biodiversity AND people visiting (recreation?) AND firewood production. Will managing for all 3 mean compromises in all 3. Surely some of the objectives would contradict each other.
  12. But would the chip act as a mulch and suppress the growth of everything, including the things you want there. Would it be easier, cheaper, and less time consuming to remove the Holly and leave intact as deadwood habitat. I can't see a benefit to chipping it.
  13. Mod sales website has a good selection for direct sale or auction. Withams or something they are called. They also have some helicopters!!
  14. I don't know much but probably not. Leave them in habitat piles. If you chip and spray them you will increase soil nutrients and then things like nettles will take over which may be detrimental to any of the ancient woodland ground flora you have present.
  15. Regardless of personal feelings for the sycamore I don't think it has a place in ancient woodland does it?
  16. Ive got a woodland management plan to produce for a college assignment. One of the books on the reading list is "Managing Native Broadleaved Woodland" by the Forestry Commision. Its a good book that might be pretty useful for you to have a look at.
  17. Your year started out the same COS WE'RE ON THE SAME COURSE!!! Who is this mysterious plank pusher?
  18. When you link them together first drive a pin through the very back hole, then apply tension in the direction of pull, this will align all the plates and take up any slack between the plates, then drive the rest home. The army connecting bolts at rated at 16 tonne so only 4 plates in a row. (although there are other configurations)
  19. In good ground each pin will give 1/2 tonne anchorage. That's 4 tonne per plate. Pins driven all the way in. Multiple plates can be connected with a bolt. Did you get bolts too?
  20. I'm on year 2 of a level 3 Arb course aswell. This year started off really slow but it's all coming together now and we've just been given a couple of big assignments that brings all our knowledge together. Does your course finish in June? You might as well stick at it because it'll be over before you know it. What college are you at?
