  1. Flat battery in the hilux this morning and no one to jump start me. cant push it where i am by myself-i found that out the hard way:thumbdown:
  2. some real crackers here:thumbup1: there is a good avenue at chilham castle in kent, complete with concrete fillings! am doing some work there in august so will get some pics!
  3. yep as others said they will just be checking your not a total maniac. as long as your cabinet is in a sensible place and secure, then its all good. make sure your house security is generally ok, my FO advised locks on windows etc but i never errr got round to doing it yet:lol: no need to worry and you dont need to know technical stuff, though it wont harm. enjoy.
  4. good thread. i do love a good knife. got far to many! have a lovley kukri, a practical survival knive which is totally bombproof, and yesterday i was given an issue navy seal one. but i do also have a posh one, from a russian maker, kizlyar. its a beaut, vladimir putin uses this maker for hunting!
  5. wow what an offer, how could anyone refuse?? sometimes its worth reading them just to brighten up the day!
  6. by the way, nice looking truck!
  7. 99% of my work is on my own, felling etc doesnt really bother me at all. i prefer it. as others have said though, respect the saw and the environment around you. weigh up the risks and if in doubt, go home! its an indivual choice on my part though and i can definatly see we some people wouldnt want to.
  8. personal choice i guess. its not a campaign or valour medal so it wont have the same sentimental value or the feeling of really earning it. If i were still in the forces i probably wouldnt sell it but i like shiny things:001_smile:
  9. misery! tooth pain is horrible, i had an abcess a few years back, went to the dentist and she was stumped. after tapping the tooth with her instrument, which made me faint with pain, she told me i had sensitive teeth and should brush with sensodyne! find it hard to trust another one after that:sneaky2:
  10. Oak out here in east sussex, not seen any action on the ash front yet.
  11. i was fined £100 last year for a late return, whilst moaning about it in the pub a chap came up and told me as soon as id paid up the tax owed in full i could get the fine back (im guessing he was an accountant) anyway paid the fine, then got my tax sorted then phoned the hmrc and simply asked for the fine back, got a cheque within the week!
  12. Its been horrible here all day so far, was hoping it would clear up this afternoon so could get some money but doesnt look good! need to do something im going down with a bad case of cabin fever!!
  13. I do agree with what Big J is saying, its sad if a dog has to spend its life on a lead. And that its about repecting your surroundings, be it livestock or woods/cover in shooting season. This is the type of basic knowledge that alot of people lack, especially town folk who come to live in the country.(no offence to anyone) mine is off the lead 99% of the time but if i have to cross a field with sheep she goes on the lead. Like most issues these days it comes down to knowledge and respect, which are in short supply in the 'im entitled' culture we live in:thumbdown:
  14. great technique:lol: it may have been the perspective on the camera but it on the first limb cut in "dramatic slow motion" he was lucky itgot snagged and flipped on the way down or it would have hit the house!
  15. sorry to hear your news, i wouldnt know what do do with myself it it was my lab holly:bawling:. i hope goes as well as it can for you and the dog.
  16. couldnt agree more with this, seeing it more and more round here. phil and kirsty and escape to the country have a lot to answer for:sneaky2:
  17. the last place i worked i was PAYE and had my own saw, i didnt mind to much. i got no allowance for it though. mind you i had no holiday pay,no sick pay, bought my own fuel... the list goes on i think its fine to be expected to use your own equipment, just make sure your not missing out on anything your entitled to.
  18. i use CIS co-op. just got it for £531 fully comp, and thats paying over the year.im 28, £150 excess, 4 years no claims. they tried to bump it up but i bumped them down again:thumbup1: got some competitive quotes from zurich, direct line and aviva wasnt too bad. worth a look.
  19. sounds good, that is alot of trees to remember and identify. are you enjoying it? i havent progressed any further towards it yet but am still keen to do it at some point. has anything been said about the sorts of jobs that could be got with the qual, ie forestry manager on a estate or something like that?
  20. doesnt sound like much fun! my general rule is, is i have the saw and im cutting, then im in charge and it is a dictatorship!
  21. ive had a pair of these for a few months now and think they are pretty good, and tough. im forever in bramble and thorn and they are holding up well. good value for money:thumbup1:
  22. IMO if we pull out now, 2015, or 2020 the outcome will eventually be the same. the corruption needs to be wormed out first or it undermines all the good. i hope im proved wrong and the ANA and ANP can control the security sufficiently and honestly. progress just seems too slow, we have been there in any substancial numbers for 6 years and the americans even longer, how much more can we make in another 2? again i hope my opinion can be proved wrong, but only time will tell.
  23. amazing, sitting here in my living room i cant get my head around trees that big! to see them in the flesh would be awesome!
  24. good post. im 27 so not in the present kid generation or old enough to parent them, but i am disgusted and angered by the behaviour of many of this age. they are not all bad obviously, but the kids that dean describe are scum, and there is no excuse for it.
