  1. haha thats excellent, may have to get some for mine!!
  2. ahhhhhhhh gas. that actually rings a bell now its mentioned. that would be it then. yep we couldnt wait to help the people of libya, but many conflicts go without our government batting an eyelid. i hope they think its worth the lives of troops, not just our own. i would like a few minutes in a locked room with the clever bloke whos idea it was:sneaky2:, only for a chat obviously!
  3. i think there must be another reason we are there that we dont know, otherwise why did the russians invade in the 80's? im fairly sure we arent there for the good of the world, its just the politicians front. as ELG says corruption is rife, and is ingrained in the culture. it would be great to make a difference, but i was there in 2006/07 and from what i have seen lately on tv it hasnt really come along much in 5 years. i would be intersted aswell to see if any russians follow what happening today.
  4. thanks for the replies gents. id forgotten about lamberhurst engineering so will probably go there, its only 15 mins from me. cheers!
  5. just wondering about peoples opinions on our troops in afghanistan? with 2 guys killed yesterday by an afghan soldier its been fresh in my mind. personally i dont see the point in being there anymore, my view is even if we stay the full term, within a year or two it will probably have descended to how it is now or before.
  6. 100th post, woop! sorry, back to the stump.
  7. and if it was cut a while ago it could well be like trying to break up a slighty woody rock!
  8. hi guys wondering if any of you down this end of the country have any fairly cheap and reliable places that you get your saws repaired at? im not really keen on going to culverwells or harper and theives and getting my pants pulled down! cheers!
  9. this is awesome! im trying to show the mrs my favorite ones with a view to moving to something similar, its not going well at all! some great ones in nz also in the states aswell, the slabwood one on page 8 is a beaut!
  10. sounds a fine idea. these things drive me insane!! you get fined for dropping litter but you can send up a huge piece of junk to come down anywhere and its ok because its so "magical"
  11. i suppose so - sold possesions, went to alaska, poisoned himself. the end.

  17. do you think any of these could be escapes from port lympe?
  18. hit the nail on the head for me, talking a lot of sense there. why always try to prove the other party wrong? we should try to accept that different people have different beliefs.
  19. walnut? i put that down to my vast knowledge of trees. or the fact that one of the tags on this thread is walnut:lol:
  20. cheers:thumbup1:
  21. this is a very hard topic to write about as its hard to get across what i mean on paper. i was christened as a baby, go to church for weddings, funerals, and i intend to do both of the above in a church myself. but thats as far as my church attendance goes apart from christenings and remembrance day. i think religion is a hugely personal thing, i like the saying "the woods are my church" as this is where i feel i can do most of my thinking and be most content. i also wore a st christopher pendant on my dog tags during my time in afghanistan and took alot of comfort from it, and i had some very close calls. as i say its very personal for me, i dont attend church much and i hope it doesnt matter i find peace elsewhere. hope that doesnt seem to muddled! just my feelings, i would never try to force them on anyone else.
  22. wow that looks amazing, what a location too. congrats on a beautiful house (so far!)
  23. wow ELG thats scary stuff, and i have to say you handled it far better than i would have. i would have been screaming like a little girl! i have one experience here and it has always bugged me. I was probably around 15 at the time camping over at a friends farm with some mates. we went for a midnight walk around and i was out front with one other lad with the torch.i was enjoying shining it at distant sheep, lighting up there eyes which was scaring one of the lads from a town. then i swung round to shine to torch on the lads behind me and saw them and an a white figure standing behind them, head and shoulders above them. i shone the torch back but it was gone, i turned to the lad nect to me and before i could say anything to him he said 'did you see that?' so it wasnt just me and i didnt prompt him in any way. we ran back to the tents and spent the rest if the night done up tightly in our sleeping bags!! the other lads who didnt see it couldnt understand all the fuss!! im getting a shiver writing this!
  24. We had a an engineer out onto the estate i work on as we needed the line dropped for the day to fell some ash that were leaning over it. one guy turned up and said he couldnt drop the line as it was to heavy for him to rig back up himself, so in the end i just felled the trees on the phone line, there was enough slack to take up the impact. it was the engineers idea, and i just said if something goes wrong it was your shout and i will take no responsibility for it! although i dont recommend this method generally:thumbup:
