  1. Yeah, had the same here. Apparently it used to be common practice to concrete in cavities.
  2. Good to know. If I didn't have this forum I'd be forced to converse with my girlfriend!
  3. I get what you're doing Mr B, and I'll try and do my bit. I just hope that it doesn't have the effect that people are worried about having a joke on this forum as well as a discussion.
  4. Found a small bottle of German bottom lubricant at the base of a pine in a gay clients garden. Lovely fella but at one point there were three blokes sitting with cigarettes in the garden listening to Frankie Goes To Hollywood!
  5. Hi jack. Were you the young lad who came along to worcwuss' Rec climb earlier this year? Hopefully there might be another meet soon and if you could make it it'd be an opportunity to try out some of this kit. I'm sure between us we could figure it out. If you haven't already bought the cambium saver it's pretty easy to knock one up for a fraction of the price.
  6. "Connor, does this cloth smell like chloroform to you?"
  7. It's not for cut protection Mark. Its for dealing out back handed slaps without leaving a tell tale bruise.
  8. Got a pair of the type A's at the moment. Need braces but they're pretty good value. Not as comfy as hi flex but they haven't fallen apart after the first acacia either. You could do much worse for the money.
  9. Looks small as you say but you may find it stretches a few mm once you climb on it for a bit. Start out carefully on it and if it's gripping well you should be fine. I prefer 8mm cord on 11mm rope, but that's my preference.
  10. Seconded. Lots to be said for good kit like that! I had to climb down a hung up oak limb recently. Similar size, but with an inexperienced groundy, and two phone lines below. Technical stuff!
  11. Thats a great video Gibbon. Looked a bit hairy. Saw you were looking for a trainee a while ago, if circumstances were different it would have been a great opportunity! Is that Chris Cornell/Audioslave/Sound Garden?
  12. I'm impressed mate. I get paid a fairly modest wage myself, yet most of my expendable income goes towards my own kit and making myself more efficient. It'll be worth it one day. I think when you enjoy your job, and enjoy the satisfaction of blasting out a job in great time due to putting in the research and kit even more so, it makes it very worth while. And I realise my post could easily have come across as a bit invasive from a stranger on the web. Thanks for not taking it that way. It was genuine curiosity
  13. Really Chris?! Is your OCD that severe? How much more will it stand to cost you? I don't mean to speak out of turn, in fact I can imagine that your need for perfection is perhaps part of the reason you can afford this top kit.
  14. Only problem with that is that you don't want members to be fearful of posting in case something is misconstrued. Most jokes can be if you try hard enough. Without jokes and banter lots of people wouldn't find this forum as much fun. Tone is difficult to convey over text. It takes consideration from both parties, posting and reading. If no obvious harm was meant, let's not break out the torches and pitchforks. At the same time try not to post remarks that are obviously rude and therefore unconstructive. I know I can certainly try to stick to this from now on.
  15. "I cut down trees, wear high heels, suspenders and a bra..."
  16. I meant like dogs or cocks... Mind you with a little imagination in the costume department your idea could be entertaining... I'll email "the Rock" and see if he still has his Scorpion King outfit!
  17. Hi Chris, I've been following this thread with keen interest. Personal life aside there must be a lot of blokes on here who are very envious of your work. You have great knowledge, kit, staff and attitude. I appreciate you've worked for all this, but for a person like me (2 years in and loving it) it's something to aspire to. You should be very proud. I'd love the opportunity to work with you guys one day!
  18. I'm ambidextrous: I can do sod all with either hand...
  19. I regularly use the small ring. Had a 460 hanging off it and it held on.
  20. Oh mate, bet you regretted that post! Harsh but I did snort with laughter, sorry Nasty wound. But am I the only one who saw the guys toenails? Perhaps thats what he was trying to cut.
  21. Guess it's up to people like you and me (I'd like to think) to prove people like the op wrong then will. Fair challenge I'd say!
  22. In fairness Will, there are a lot of people our age that are lazy. We shouldn't get tarred with the same brush though. There are lots of lazy older people too, but I guess that the ones that try out for a job as a groundsman tend to be younger. I don't mind people being slow at first, as long as they are keen and trying. Nor do I mind the odd late finish, but it's really disheartening when it could be avoided by everyone pulling their weight. I'm 24 (and three quarters!) and it sounds like I've got my most productive years in this industry still to come!
  23. Horatio, I feel like I owe you an apology. I've spent the second half of my day chasing around after on if our groundys of six months. Any time he felt he could he'd be dawdling, sitting down or drinking coffee. Poncing around with a silky and loppers instead of using a saw, and generally causing the rest of the team a late finish. I still didn't expect running, but anything slightly better than a light mince would have been better. Anyway, it made me think back to you and your thread. When they come to take me away, please tell them the murder was just.
