  1. The lads getting a bit of stick for no reason. What a friendly welcome! Back off gents.
  2. Like I said, I reckon both have their merits. If you'd had a little topper you could have just refuelled it! I'll definitely be getting one (probably the Stihl). It'll be interesting to see which one gets used more.
  3. Off the top of my head: big conny stripping, multiple small tree dismantles, pollards, re pollards. I recently did a huge lapsed Pop pollard. 30yrs re growth, 14" dia cuts. All had to be cut small or rigged over targets, lines, road etc. took 2+ days. Can't see a battery lasting a full day like that. Edit: and "testing my elbow" should have read "twatting my elbow"
  4. Dunno Mick. To be honest my big boy topper only comes out on decent takedowns now. I reckon there's a place for both. I'm looking to get a battery topper after testing the same elbow twice in 2 days starting the Echo in the tree. As I see it the e-topper would be king for those jobs where there's s lot of time between cuts, but not too much saw work to be done. The mini petrol ones are grand for high intensity small cuts. Plus your e-topper is still heavier than my combustible echo.
  5. To be honest Mick, I'm not at all that bothered. They're handling it far better than some companies. I've been so impressed with the saw that I'm not about to throw my toys out and get a 150.
  6. Get rid of that 310 and you'll be halfway there!
  7. Don't seem to be having much luck here mate PPP it back on eBay, you might well turn a profit.
  8. In Seventhdevil's defense the piss taking is unwarranted. He's just trying to find a good home for it. 3 cows lost their life's for that jacket, after all.
  9. Ha wouldn't touch that saw mate! Don't know who's more daft. I don't really need more than 2 of them.
  10. 7 And I'm an employed climber...
  11. I also imagine replacement parts will be hard to find
  12. Why does it matter Al, is it not going back?
  13. Most tree workers have their own chipper. It's the type that want to rent one for a day you need to ask about.
  14. Good to know about the 8 pin. My66 is with Spud atm. Changed back to7 on the 441 though. You still running 8 on that? Nice job by the way
  15. That the 30" bar on the 66? Looks smaller than that. How you finding the new sprocket?
  16. You gonna keep me hanging or share your secret? It best not be two leans on the end of a bit of friction cord or I'll be massively underwhelmed!
  17. I've always liked the ideas of tattoes. Problem is I wouldn't want something meaningless, but at the same time wouldn't want to sound like a pretentious douche trying to explain it. In our trade I can't see a problem, but I'd avoid garish ink that can't easily be covered. Not my prejudice, but those of the people we work for perhaps.
  18. It's easy to write Stevie off as a bit of a backwoodsman type knuckle dragging saw jockey. Don't be fooled, he's actually a philosophical and psychological genius!
  19. Don't you have to thread your line through from the end and remove your device for that?
  20. The compression is part of the problem! Any normal saw wouldn't be too bad to keep restarting on spikes!
  21. Wilko. From memory I ordered a couple of carbs from L&S as they were a got price. One for the saw and the other for you to cover your labour. It would have been Zama or Walbro for sure, I'll check. I'll do the above and if no good I'll bring it to you. To be honest nowadays I'd rather pay you and be sure of a good result than try myself and always be a bit uncertain. It's only really an issue when I'm climbing and have the saw idling for a minute or so between cuts.
  22. It's a gem of a saw mate, real proof that your well worth the money. That saw was like a stray mutt when it came to you! Still got that stalling after a cut thing going on though. When I come to pick up the 66 I might leave it with you again
  23. Careful, I'll bring the 357 back!
  24. Haha I wasn't completely serious It's never been used, no one was even expecting it to run, and all we had was saw mix. I imagine we'll get some unleaded for it at some point. Then again, maybe not!
  25. Technically it doesn't need oil any more now it's running 2 stroke, right? It was indeed all we had, and it does smoke! Thanks for pissing on my chips about the throttle cable anyway Barry, the springs are all stretched and worn. It'll still comply with PUWER right?
