  1. Shut up Tommy. I think you need some independent advice.
  2. Only problem was that a block of butter and 3/4 jar of honey went into each batch...
  3. I used to make muesli flapjack with butter and honey, packed with dried cranberries and cherries, cinnamon ginger and dark chocolate. Problem was it was intended as a breakfast power bar, but it was so damn good that I'd end up eating 3 big slabs through the day and nothing else!
  4. Tell me, has the fact that you "meant no harm" helped pacify your fiancée? Your diet is hilariously irrelevant. Still, this is getting tedious now. Enjoy the bed you've made.
  5. The problem with sociopaths like the OP is that whilst they might phrase it like they want opinions, all they really care about is people agreeing with them to validate their egos. It's like banging your head on a brick wall. When, inevitably his fiancée leaves him he'll still maintain that he was right and anyone who doesn't dedicate their lives to their mundane job is a work shy loser.
  6. Cracking service Al. Planner surprise me. As a top line manufacturer selling top line products at definite top line prices it's reasonable to expect they would stand by their product. Good job the two main competitors are a damn sight cheaper, and I know that Clark's after care is second to none.
  7. Does you're fiancée not get worried when you'd rather be greasing nipples in the workshop? You know my stance. I reckon you're mental, but in the not so distant future, it's going to be just you and your stump grinding business. That's all. Perhaps you'll be happy with that.
  8. Christ. It's the first time I've ever related to you. I feel dirty.
  9. Fag and a coffee does me most mornings. I used to take tins of mackerel to work but got death threats from the lads.
  10. Does a bacon and egg sandwich count for lunch?
  11. McDonald's breakfast wrap at the moment. It'll probably be dominos later though.
  12. You've not pissed me off mate. I just reckon our industries are different. I reckon a climber who charged travel time as a standard would have a lot of blank diary pages! That's not to say that I'm against the idea. Reckon all the business owners here would be mind.
  13. Sure Mark, I get that. Standard day rate within a certain mile radius, anything above that is charged on top. I reckon most employers would use someone more local (cheaper) though, unless you're outstanding compared to the local competition. That's not what Eggs is saying though. I'd hazard a guess that his field is more specialised, with fewer decent operators, and jobs being further and wider. If so it makes sense, but for a subbie climber who rarely goes more than 40mins from home I can't see charging for that time being viable.
  14. And where did I say that it would? How many SE climbers (or groundies) on here charge from when they get in their motor? Obviously running your own jobs is different. Travel is factored into the quote. I think your industry must be less saturated with competent operators than mine.
  15. Kind of. More of an arse man really
  16. Your husband sounds like a great guy
  17. If it's physically draining it's worth it.
  18. Not sure what you don't get Eggs, Ideally a subby would love to be paid from the moment they get off their drive. It's a competitive market though, so you either have to be outstandingly better than any competition, or live somewhere where you have no competition. Most folk will figure out a distance they're willing to travel for their day rate. Anything more could be done at an extra rate, but most employers will chose someone more local thus cheaper. But like taking a PAYE job 2 hours away, then expecting more on top for your travel time.
  19. Actually in that regard we're well supplied across the board.
  20. I'm the opposite end of the spectrum I reckon. Drop me a pm (or a beer at the APF) if you want to compare pro's and cons!
