  1. I am trying to sort out some new wheels for my 130, I don't want to use the wolf steels as I would like to use my stock of 265 tyres, I know silverline do modulars rated at 1150kg per wheel but hunting around they are the only ones I can seem to find doing them. Does anyone know of anywhere else to try ?
  2. I run 2 landy 300tdi's and a Ford Ranger For towing locally at 3500kg and a loaded truck I use the Landies, for the longer distance smaller deliveries I use the ranger purely because it's a quieter drive, the Ranger (09 plate) don't really like towing at it's max of 3000kg, it's ok once it's rolling but getting it rolling is what it don't like. The landies I have are great workhorses get a fair bit of abuse and tow 3500kg with the truck loaded without problems, although one has just been completely rebuilt, not because it needed it apart from the usual rusty chassis but because I want it to last a lot more years. I had one landy that was a lemon from new a lot of years ago and gave them a wide berth for quite a few years, but you get lemons in all makes, one of my new Rangers spent 5 weeks back at the dealers in total with various issues. We avoid one of the major cheap landy pattern part manufacturers and stick with genuine, OEM or other bits from the other part manufacturers and have never had a problem, yes they may need more work than others but they are easy enough to work on and parts are easily available and even the better quality parts are fairly cheap.
  3. failing that you could look into air assisters, but they can be pricey for leaf springs
  4. You will be needing a product tester i'm sure be interested to know it's lifting capacity
  5. Not sure putting the weight directly on the drawbar is a good idea imo, and that is a fair bit of weight with the stabilisers. here is how mine is fitted, but it still needs to be stretched out when unloaded.

  7. Those ones were at around 800kg Suprisingly I still have just a gnats over 2000kg payload, crane with its frame and donkey engine weigh in at around 600kg and trailer is about 850kg
  8. Finally remembered to get some pics when I was using the trailer

  10. I looked into putting the crane on the back of the landy but I couldn't find a knuckleboom crane with a suitable lift capacity that was not going to stick out of the sides too much. Stiffboom should be able to fit on it nicely though. There is one on ebay hiab landy
  11. I can't even begin to say how sorry I am to hear this, how the hell can we expect them to be put off if the punishment doesn't fit the crime. Is it not possible to now bring a civil case to recover lost equipment costs ? now that they have been charged, but I suppose they own sod all, and what they do own is probably someone else's anyway.
  12. 130 300tdi chassis cab landy defender (waiting for me to build the body) 110 300tdi hicap landy defender Ford ranger double cab 09 plate The ranger is demoted to general run around and towing small trailer loads The defenders are used to pull the hiab trailer or the other trailers when loaded to the max and the truck is loaded aswell
  13. Thanks for the ideas the trail cameras look like they may be the ideal solution
  14. After having our red stolen from the machines for the second time in 3 weeks and along with various other kit stolen in the last year I think time has come to try sort out some security/camera system for the machines out in the field if possible. I have searched through loads of threads and have an idea or two but I need something that will be clear at night but the only place I am going to be able to put a camera will be on the machine roofs or somewhere similar, we move about a fair bit so on ocassion might be able to put it in a tree. I will need something that calls me to tell me it has been activated but also send footage to my and another persons phone aswell as upload to web storage in case no one is about but also incase the camera is spotted and stolen itself. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, as I have really had enough of this now.
  15. Sorry to hear, this is just getting mad now, I hope you get back up and running as soon as.
  16. I looked into these when I was considering what to go for but the rating on the palfinger site was as below, hence why I said what I did, to get the lifting capacity I need I would have had to go for the pc3800 which is a pretty pricey piece of kit. Palfingers are really nicely built cranes though and that looks a nice setup.
  17. Good luck with that if you are involved in a serious accident or get pulled by vosa. it's something we will have to disagree on.
  18. Isn't that some what hugely overloading a 1500 ? Someone local has just had a pc2700 put on a twin axle ifor by web hydraulics in suffolk, haven't seen it close up but it looks a very nice setup from a distance. Nice thing about stiff boom cranes is the weight saving you get with them, but for taking pallets off I needed a knuckleboom but at the cost of payload.
  19. I have come across a couple of 130's rated at 3050kg, so you need to check the plate. generally you need front bump stop spacer and longer bolts front springs rear springs rear helper springs helper spring top and bottom holders Heavy duty rear shocks Not sure on anti-roll bars, it's listing that the 3500kg has a front one fitted. there may be other odd bits but there is plenty out there on the net you you have a hunt about, trouble is you will probably find that changing the springs ends up replacing the spring base plates and retainers and other odds and sods. get the parts manual off the net to get all the part numbers.
  20. anything was possible with LRSV, depended on what was on the shelf I think Am finding my LR rear and helper springs a pretty hard and uncomfortable ride at the moment, wishing I had gone with air assist bags now.
  21. If you go through the parts catalogue they are the same discs and calipers, my utility spec 130 has the same front and rear braking as my 3050kg 110 hicap. so although he has that fitted you don't need it to uprate to 3500kg we are uprating our hicap when it has it's new chassis.
  22. As far as I am aware uprating to 3500 differences are, extenders on the front bump stops, front springs are 90 rears iirc, salisbury rear axle which were fitted to all hi cap pickups regardless of weight rating, and finaly rear helper springs. strengthened chassis were generaly specked by utility companies when they ordered them new, it is not essential as I found out when I had to replace a utility spec chassis.and as far as I am aware the brakes are the same. If you can find a good landy dealer they might be persauded to order you an uprated plate, which is the proper way to do it. Will try to get some pics of my rebuilt 130 up now it is finaly on the road
  23. I have just bought a 14ft tri axle ifor with a bonfiglioli knuckle boom fitted last week. I have yet to really give it a try out but will say that the nose weight is a bit of a problem when empty and the crane needs to be opened out to the back of the trailer bed but it tows really nicely set up like that, once loaded I just fold it up, this one is built into the front part of the body and not on the drawbar so although it is a 14ft it has 12ft of usable bed. It's way cheaper to find a small lorry with crane, but that wasn't a route I wanted to go down again.
  24. Any sign of the digger and trailer ? Sadly it's true that they will probably get a slap on the wrist and be asked to promise never to do it again.
