  1. Thanks for the explanation. I fad images of you with bits of paper fltibg everywhere. Top work and I know you still have loads to do
  2. Interesting chart steve but I think the times are a little conservative. Maybe Call hazard class 5 examples or something. I always believed that Robinia is called class 1 durable too?
  3. Of your ever up near bucks you can have enough brown oak to make a table for not a lot. Fair few pin borer holes but lovey figure.
  4. I've no doubt it's fair. Just wondering if it's old school or techno
  5. Auction it on here to raise more for the trust
  6. So is there actually a hat involved or is the draw electronic?

  8. I'll be taking my kids out of school for the last week before summer. Simply because it saves me 1200 for 1 week away. It's the last year I'll be comfortable doing it as my daughter is nearly 12 and don't want her to miss too much. My sons school is a joke and the more time he spends out of there the better. The head hasn't been present for 3 months now as he's been trying to get his foot in the door in some regional head job. The deputy head has applied for a head job in a local school and has been away from school on and off am awful lot. The year 4 teacher has left and is taught now by constantly changing supply teachers. My friends year 4 daughter has been called all sorts of things by the teacher most recently in games she was referred to as blonde glasses girl at the back. All the turmoil at the school leaves my sons y2 teacher running the school and my son taught by various supply teachers whom don't know his name and neither does he know theirs. And they wanna fine me for a week off when they would be watching videos anyway for the second half. I can't wait to receive the letter. But all is fine to be honest, because the school has an outstanding ofsted report.
  9. I'd be up for a couple of 3 skip loops too.
  10. Have you guys heard of sawstop. Wouldn't be surprised if it was rolled out on ball saws like this soon. It's pretty impressive. [ame] [/ame]
  11. This page has the name and correspondence address of Linda Buxton hopley. The registered director . Personally I would write her a letter explaining how disappointed you are with her company. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/officers/RpUuChjFJZCrB9P_hMDmaZ_IH14/appointments
  12. Stand your ground. Don't be part of this problem for other people by rolling over and doing the retailers job for them . Contact management and trading standards. If everybody rolls over then the retailer continually gets away it and it creates a cycle. Someone has to stand up to them.
  13. That's rubbish. They sold you the goods . The contract of sale is between you and them . Several European regulations on this. Stand your ground and get your boots replaced. If the second pair is faulty you are entitled to a no quibble refund. http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees/index_en.htm
  14. If your not qualified you can't collect it to sell it.
  15. Hi I have a tip site for chip in winslow bucks. Near Milton Keynes. Pm me for address. Cheers. James
  16. What is the ground saw that stihl have offered up? Thanks
  17. Just Googled it. Scratch my last post. You dan get the saw for around 800 and they do look good. Might be my next mitre saw if I think it will fit on my existing stand. I assume you have no problem cutting and trenching an 8x4?
  18. Never seen that model. But couldn't justify that money on a mitre saw. Would love one although I'm not motivated for work enough to spend that.
  19. That's cool.if I win it i'll gift it to my Bro in law.
  20. I dint find it too hard pushing but i just sit my bum against the carriage and lean on it. This is maybe why i don't cut that fast. As it happens I have a planer head on the water at the moment. Should be here in 3 weeks. Sander seems pointless to me as I can sand quite happily by hand(dewalt orbital) after its planed It's .relatively simple to fit from what I can gather .it just replaces the circular blade. With a capacity to planr 6ft width i don't think £800 is too bad. But it is expensive for what your getting. I see what your saying about the electric plane but it pointless planing up green slab. When I'm using the circular blade it takes 3 or 4 mins to change blades sp I guess it would take the same to fit the planer. What I would do is get a pile of seasoned slabs out to a log at home. Take the log down to halfway with the circular blade. Then fit planer head plane slabs on top of log. Refit circular blade and finish log. If you haven't a log to mill uou can always make a cradle from some 4 X2 to plane on top of. I certainly wouldn't bother planing a slab I've just milled . But I can see it would be slow to slab the plane then slab then plane etc. Are you using a 3 skip or 5 skip chain on the smaller logs? Cheers James
  21. The only reason the rage will cut steel is because of the blade supplied. This means it won't give you as good a cut in wood as say a Freud blade but there great for naily timber. My Bro has a rage saw which I've used abd there Ok. In miter saws I rate dewalt more than makita but Festool are awesome but only have a small depth of cut. Never used or seen a jefferson. The rage is good as a diy saw I wouldn't get one for myself as I'm a carpenter amongst other things but it suits my Bro in law just fine For fine woodwork upgrade the blade and disregard any led guide lights.
  22. So what if I win it when I don't have a ticket to use it? I do own a top handle. But only coz I bought it at farm auction to fix up. I've never used it honest.
  23. Lucas slabber attatchment costs about 1200 including the vat. The bar is 600 on its own. Dedicated slabbing mill is around 14k+vat.
  24. I've milled a little Holm oak and didn't have any problems but they were only small. Look very different to yours too. I will upload a pic later. When I'm making tables from wide slabs I usually make a frame for the legs. So 4 legs and 4 rails mortice abd tennon together. I then fix the rails to the slab with stretcher plates to allow it to move as much as it likes.
