  1. He’s right though, you couldn’t make it up a story like that, what on earth do those idiots at Natural England now about country sports and field craft? Pigeon models scaring off birds!! They also suggest you put out a life like scare crow and occasionally swap places with it. ??
  2. That’s so so sad I feel for you all. We lost our 2 year old GSD Mac not long back from bloat, it happened so quick. We had trained him to do personal protection and he went everywhere with me. I cried like a baby for days as did my wife and kids. I’ve got a new boy now and it’s helped heal the hurt and loss. I’m feeling your hurt.
  3. I’ve had that machine for years now, I can’t fault it, I had it fully remoted not long ago its good to be able to operate it without the umbilical.
  4. I wouldn’t be too concerned about that tree causing any structural damage to the property, for one it’s not a large tree, it’s also a species that doesn’t have a massive root structure. I would recommend removing it due to the crown encroaching onto the fabric of the building. Cost between £350- £480, price depends on whether you have the stump removed or not
  5. Certainly was, had the in-laws around so was up early doors for 4 hrs of sanding. The weather was great and so was the ice cool aspinals.[emoji481]
  6. oak plank bar table finished in time for the lovely sunny bank holiday.
  7. Try Ian Barnes and associates in Boroughbridge. We where asked to price it but We are booked up into the end of July.
  8. Sorry to hear that. They are the scum of the earth.
  9. Its a very common occurrence now, its so disheartening, I hope that you recover it with no damage. The people who do this are so heartless, and as for the individuals who have the gear off them they are even worse, without them scumbags it would not happen.
  10. Watch dawn wall on Netflix if you haven’t , its very good as well.
  11. A local council up here offers private consultancy, something I’ve always considered a bit open to suspicion.
  12. The other option that we often use is to do the work with a MEWP if access allows.
  13. Looks like a great idea, but I don’t like the idea of trusting it, whats it like in wet or icy conditions? If it ever goes wrong then good by.
  14. Try dave Hargreaves at coneythorpe near arkendale, he will fabricate one for you, he makes a lot of kit for us.
  15. It was for North Yorkshire County Council bridges, not too sure about the town council getting in contractors to remove the flotsam, the middle arch span was completely blocked by a whole tree, took best part of a day to clear it.
  16. A bit of a change for us today, this is Tadcaster Bridge that has a large log jam on it, the client has spent millions on rebuilding it after it was destroyed in a flood. Nice bit of winch and diving work.
  17. That’s such bad news, I hope you get sorted with the insurance if you don’t recover it, they promise you the world but often short change you,I have a real mistrust of them. I’m insured with the same company. I had a tow behind stolen and they tried to get out of it because the keys had been left in the ignition FFS!
  18. We have diploma students come out for work based training, you must be with them all the time, never get too relaxed and leave them on their own, also never ask them to do anything beyond their comfort zone.
  19. A brilliant saw, cant fault it, don’t know an awful lot about stihl as we stopped using them several years back due to poor performance.
  20. Dave, I started climbing at 45, that said I was a paramedic and reasonably fit, its a really hard physical job and eventually takes it toll on your body as you get older,so it’s doable but you need focus and drive. Ground work is also hard work but you’ll soon get fitter doing it. Its a fantastic job to get into and can earn you a good living and life style, you also get to play with some great boys toys. Good luck.
  21. Does the foliage smell sort of pineapple? If so thuja.
