  1. We do our own chapter 8 vinyl stickers, the trick is to spray the area with a weak solution of fairy liquid before putting the sticker on, as for sign writing I think your Better spending some money and getting a pro to do it, it's not too expensive and it's the cheapest form of advertising you'll ever get.
  2. Pwm has just purchased a brand new one John.
  3. We own a charlton 4012, to be honest I don't think that I could get enough work for it just grinding stumps, it's not often that I get people phoning for me to grind out. If I do I very often don't get the work and I'm not extortionate on my pricing. One other point there is no other machine (other than a road planer!) that gets the abuse of a grinder. Don't let anyone else use it as it will end in some sort of costly repairs or injury.
  4. Hi CJM, as others have stated if it's causing you stress and effecting your day to day function then go to your Gp. I know first hand about the effects of stress having spent the best part of my working life as a Paramedic. If you have a partner or a close friend discuss it with them, that may help. Don't bottle it up and soldier on.
  5. I have a carleton 4012, I charge my hourly rate and 10% for wear on the machine. I hate pedestrian grinders they are a pain in the butt to use.
  6. If you do get a blackthorn injury get it seen to, I had a two inch thorn punch thro my chainsaw pants and into my thigh whilst feeding the chipper, it looked like a blackhead, when I made it to my vehicle it had disappeared into the muscle and I could feel it moving every time I took a step. I ended up in theatre for an op to remove it. The surgeon told me the infection from them can be fatal.
  7. Saw monkey, I am a director of a Arb contracting company, as a director/ owner I am ultimately vicariously responsible for the safety and well being of my staff, this would be the case for the owner/director of the company you work for. Did the director get involved? Was there a method statement and risk assessment carried out on the detail? A risk assessment is there to remove the risk did it show up potential risk/s? If my staff ID any risk in a job then it is dealt with and removed no matter the cost. We were also out in those high winds clearing highways for our client North Yorkshire County Council. We called in heavy lifting gear and 23tracked access platforms for safety. Who is your employer? The job we do is one of the most dangerous ones you can do. If you are concerned please contact the HSE. PM me the name of your company out of curiosity Regards Jim
  8. im 52 and climb when i get the chance which isnt very often now, i am always busy quoting and meeting clients.
  9. We run a timberwolf 150 and have just bought a new Jensen 530, the Jensen is an amazing machine, so much so that I would not buy another timberwolf until they sort out the rotor bearing design. We have a landrover tipper, a great bit of kit but lacking on chip capacity. See if you can get hold of a peugeot boxer lwb tipper with a 3 ltr engine, we run one and it's great.
  10. I got an email off Jeramy Barrell tother day, he had posted a video about the tree being felled. He put forward his case for not felling such a great tree. you can view it on u tube. personally i think it should have been guarded and retained.
  11. I agree both the AA field guides are great little books, ideal for vehicle packs. Another fantastic book is Micheal Jordan's encyclopedia of fungi of the British isles and Europe. Isbn 0 7112 2378 5. Great text and fabulous pics.
