It will. The 211 and 180 have the same bar mount and sprocket.

Not sure as no experience with that saw, but I think it runs a 3/8 0.050" chain and most if not all carving bars are 1/4" I think (?) Rob Dyer will be able to tell you, he da man when bars and chain and such are concerned!

Get a 211 of fr jones, saves you £50 on the prices you have there. Use that £50 on some decent safety kit. You'll then have a 14" bar which suits that saw ok for getting your log to size and can then put the carving bar on for your actual carving. This will be your most versatile set-up from the three saws you mention. You might get bored with changing bars after a while, but you will either learn to live with it or have an excuse to buy another saw. Don't forget you'll need a different sprocket to run a carving bar on any of those saws but there dead easy to swap and don't cost much.

Think I asked this on the thread introducing the back-handle version: what's the warranty like, and does it cover the battery? I have a wide range of makita li-ion tools and batteries, and when the charger decides the battery is no good it'll refuse to charge it forever more, this is without any previous noticeable issues or drop in power. When batteries are £145 they'd need to be fully covered under warranty as far as I'm concerned.

+1 super stuff, much easier to use and sets much harder than JB Weld or araldite. no messy mixing: just slice a bit off, knead it and fix it

I fixed my combi-can (which had an unfortunate encounter with a billhook) by scratching round the hole, setting fire to the raised bits and continuously feeding that fire with baler-twine until there was enough there to fill the gap. Blew out the fire, squashed liquid plastic into shape with the back of a spoon and presto! Done! Then put 2l of petrol in and left it in a hot place until it bulged like a teenage mum, all good!

You may be able to stop the beetles (though unlikely) but the fungus is there and has done its deed by the sounds of it so not much point. -
I could be wrong but... I think as a self-employed person you're entitled to a little extra from our great and glorious leaders. I think Andy Colllins who fell ill, used up his spare pennies and then found out he was entitled to sickness benefits. If doctor says you can't work, don't work! You may well do yourself a lot more (financial) harm by going on to damage yourself permanently.

So if I understand this right, I can still hire a 15t rigid for private purposes after that, but not for hire or reward?

Pro's are just people... Look at it from the other side, "it wasn't me, it was my brother" however true it may be, sounds as dodgy as "no I didn't mean to bid £5 million on eBay, may cat walked across the keyboard when I wasn't looking"...

Well said that man! Presuming you're just doing this for yourself, the extra three or four seconds per cut won't make the job any worse will they?

I was rustling around in some dense bush today, and I was getting wet right through, so I had a good fumble, found the knobbly bit and flicked it! Didn't take long for her to get really really hot, lovely! After a bit I had to turn her off again as she was just coming on too strong, too hot too fast, though it did an ok job of drying my gloves. I love having an xpG-spot on my saw!!

As Peter says: no. But, C1+E = sub 7.5t + max 3.5t trailer C+E = artic lorry. Tests are the same, as are test fees....

Ehm, not quite. In my Home Country, the Netherlands and also Belgium there are several annual collection schemes where people take their hedge clippings to a collection point for the production of medicine, many thousands of tonnes of material are collected thus each year. Furthermore, I know of at least 150Ha of taxus baccata growing near my parents' farm, grown exclusively for medicinal use. The useful stuff used to be extracted from the bark of the pacific yew, but a much easier and simpler process has been developed to process the stuff from fresh clippings.

Thanks guys, it's in central Bedfordshire so about as far from the coast as you can get. This is the only one like this amongst 100 or so. No signs of fruiting bodies anywhere. It was exactly like this last winter.

As per title really, it's in a hedgerow with dozens of others that all look normal. Some in various stages of dying etc, but this is the only one that looks like this? It looks to have no smaller twigs at all, but was in leaf this year? There's also some vertical cracks in the bark, not sure if they're related? Just looking for some insights on how and why really. Thanks.

Decided to try and do without the base, just to keep things dynamic and adventurous, I'm a wild one me... Used a bit if very dead elm with a little notch cut out the side. Worked really well

Last I checked there was no limit on trailer size? Just overall length of 18m, maybe that's changed? I had an '88 814 with 500k km on that I bought for £1250, never broke down, servicing easy and cheap, sold it 70k km later minus the big alloy box it had on when I bought it for £1450.

Hmm, fairly sure the maximum length for B+E is 18m which is the same as C(1)+E isn't it? The other thing you should know is that getting a C1 license is a waste if money, as the requirements, test and costs are the same for getting C. I imagine The same would go for C1+E versus c+e but you'd still be limited to the C1 weights. And as an actual answer, my Merc 814 would tow a house with ease, turned tighter than a LR 90 and was superb for reliability and maintenance.
