  1. Google teaches us this, Model Profile: 240SE/SG
  2. My dad uses a landcruiser, 4.2L TD auto for towing sheep, it's awesome! I've used the equivalent manual as well and the auto wins hands down:thumbup1:
  3. Yep, but zoab is used only for it's buffering capabilities in NL. Rain goes down into it, and flows through it to the side of the road. They can also make it so it's open all the way down.
  4. "No track kickers please" made me chuckle:laugh1:
  5. Nice to see the day/night difference. Every post before dinner time was to actually help the guy. I too thought it was a guy "extracting the urine" but it seems he was not. Though this seems incredible, perhaps even stupid but is it really so hard to imagine someone who simply does not know?
  6. It's quite invasive, and disliked for the way it can sprout in very low-light conditions and soon overshadow everything that once stood where it wanted to be. I can't really see them doing any harm though? So it's foreign, invasive, strong and usefull... Just like the Saxons! I bet they were disliked when they first got here, still here though and pretty widespread!
  7. Grass grows on virtually no soil at all if needed, on low or dis-used tarmac, soil will build up in the pores, this is enough for some grasses. It grows on the tarmac, not through it. There is now a porous tarmac available, but it's not (yet) in widespread use, There appears to be a British company claiming this as new and their invention? It just uses the larger substrate when mixed, and not the fine stuff, leaving some gaps between for water to either drain through or drain out. It is used on Dutch motorways, as there is no surface water, so much less spray= better safety. For it to work well long term it needs to be used though, the Dutch hard shoulders need to be "hoovered" ocasionally, to remove the build-up of detritus that would hinder drainage. The need for this was found after some very slippery roads in winter, caused by water stuck in this "open" tarmac, unable to drain away because of the blocked shoulder froze, and thus rose. que: Best tarmac road turning into ice-rink!
  8. Yes, so I've been told:sneaky2:. I've only had the saw since tuesday but have been ill and only used it for a couple of minutes. I did read through the whole of the handbook, inspected the saw all over but no sign of these legendary kahoonas? Perhaps you could tell me where they are located on the saw?
  9. Look on here for threads on the 346xp, or the best small saw etc. It seems most people (even those well-informed, quality-minded Stihl customers) really rate this saw. Alternatively, look through Wooded's posts, in at least one out of three posts he'll tell the world how much he loves his, I find it a little disconcerting:lol:
  10. Ask your builder's merchant, that one above is from "bollards-direct" wich I believe is Marshall's.
  11. Ferrocast Manchester Polyurethane Bollard Any good?
  12. If they have $3 million to sort it, why not cut a tunnel through them? Depending on the size they could even bore them out a bit, so you're walking in the tree! That would please walkers, wheelers and bunny-huggers alike:thumbup1:
  13. I looked long and hard at small saws, replace my ms210?, get an ms260? ms241:thumbup1: was a clear winner in my book.... but then I bought a 346XPG:biggrin: I've not used it properly yet though, but first impressions are that the finish is all that little bit less good, the recoil cover is a slighltly different orange, the whole on/of choke assembly makes me worry about using it with my (thick) hedging gloves, the clips on the top cover cannot be undone just by hand etc.
  14. +1 But he could have insulted equally, then it would not have smarted so much perhaps. Wanted, one or two Chimps, and three gimps would that have been more acceptable?
  15. We're on a dry hill in a sea of drought. Our oaks have shown no signs at all, our Ashes maybe slightly less leaves? Sycamore has seemed to suffer a bit this year though, looking quite sorry for themselves, dropping leaves in july. We've just one big willow and that seemed a little less dense, but only a little. The apple trees have produced really tiny apples. Newly planted trees though..... I planted about 3000 trees last winter, and I can still see the footprints I made in the only mud I've seen since then. I broke a few spades on the drying (clay soil as we progressed. From half-way february to end of june we had no more than 3mm of rain in any one week, no more than 18mm in total! Over summer we only had a decent day of rain on the day of my daugters's big birthday do (typical!) I've not looked through all my notes yet, but we did an audit and found about 12% alive..
  16. I'm not quite sure why you're having trouble choosing between a £440 ms230 and a £200 024 when you can get a new ms241 for £440? The ms241 has an "HD2" filter, the new heavy-duty standard for stihl I believe? 241 has less vibes (the lowest vibe saw in the whole stihl range I think) more power and weighs less. "230" c-"BE" means: "230" Outdated -there's been a 231 available for some time "B" means it has one of those annoying quick, toolless tensioners. opinions vary. "E" means the completely useless "ergostart", a system that stores the energy from your pull, and uses that to crank only when you've pulled all the cord out. And that's without going into the pro versus home-owner saw thing. Easy peasy mate!
  17. Well, I think it's quite a good photograph!
  18. Greenmech CV14HP 4 Inch Wood Chipper GMR100 | eBay GTM 1300 wood chipper woodchipper same as jo beau | eBay Baer Cat Chipper 4.5 Inch Honda GX390 Model 77413 13HP Towable | eBay eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace I could go on like that for a while...
  19. Thanks, I've put it on now anyway:biggrin: When I re-assembled it it made sense to have the rings the way they were. I just looked at it and could not see any difference. A bit like when you're looking for your glasses only to be told they're on your head:biggrin:. I think the piston would be Mahle as well, seeing as the cylinder was, but I did not see any maker's marks anywhere. The c was clearly marked. I'm enjoying the fiddling about with it, everything is spotless, checked for wear everywhere, lubed where appropriate etc. I've not done a rebuild like this before and am having great fun:thumbup:
  20. Slightly pricey alternative? Tap and Die .com BSP dies
  21. If you used a "pre-loved" nut (and olive?) would they not be easily deep enough? If as you say there is plenty of thread left behind, the nuts don't normally start "pulling" until they're quite some way on, and perhaps using a second-use one would make this even more so? What is the pipe made of, can you not solder it in? just some thoughts.
  22. Excellent!, thanks, and at such a speedy reply! I'm straight back to it...
  23. Help! I meant, Help please, ofcourse:001_smile: I've decided to put a new cylinder on an ms180 I'd been given (it ran fine but the exhaust mountings had sheared off). Ordered one from Mr Solutions, got here this morning, all good. I was pleased to see it was a "mahle" kit. They only did a p+c kit so I'm changing the piston as well. I took the old one off, no problems and made a mental note that the pin goes in from the clutch side, only to find the new piston has both ends equiped with rings! It does have a little arrow on it, but wich way should it point? Carb or exhaust? I cannot see any difference in it at all but I'd like to be sure. Gut says exhaust... Oh, I've done everything bar the 8mm nuts that hold the carb on with my new "topsaw" multitool-gadget-thing!
  24. A sad sight indeed! I'd be surprised if they recover, what happened?
  25. I would have asked him if it was ok to come back another day, to have a look at his "real" logs. "To be able to improve the service offered". Unless he's got a supplier selling him tropical hardwoods, your logs will be at least as good, surely? Go back, look at the difference and either try and explain why yours are better (if they are) or tell him he's right, and you produce your logs differently, for different customers. No harm to be done, and there's no point in feeling rejected, offended or any such things. You had a misunderstanding, he told you he was expecting something different before you'd unloaded. Sounds all good to me.
