  1. As this is turning into a general Aspen related questions thread anyway... If I use Aspen4 and mix it with aspen 2-stroke oil, does it keep or does it go off like petrol/two-stroke mix? There are a few machines I very ocasionally use that need different fuel mixes (1/33 and 1/40). mixing as needed is haslle and wastefull as mixing by the tankfull is not practical.
  2. The problem is with your bar and chain most likely. MS250 may not be the best saw, but it should make no difference at all as long as it pulls the chan around. Check the chain and bar combo, the people at FR Jones are very helpfull and skiled, but everyone can make mistakes (I've had an 18" chain to go with a 15" bar from them before) it's in the nature of working with humans. You mentioned it gets harder to move the chain when it's tensioned, but can you still move it fairly easily by hand? When you let the saw "find it's own way through the wood" does it cut straight or curve a little to one side or the other? When you are cross cutting even huge bundles of smaller stuff, the chain has a considerable amount of air-cooling, not so when cutting large logs.
  3. thin hi-viz overtrousers?
  4. leave it alone, whatever wants to or can grow/live there eventually will.
  5. I'd go see someone about gas mains pipes, they have a very limited shelf-life when overground, and have to be disposed of if not used within two years of production or something like that. I got some 40mm thick 50cm diam pipe to make into a slide and got charged..... nought! I'm not sure what size they go up to though.
  6. Deleted it, I tried to post the picture of the loader with the giant fireball in the bucket but it didn't work.
  7. The only answer is a rotating drum as far as I can see.
  8. What is smart grease? Is it like smart water?
  9. Imagine: You're walking in the woods, the trail is very narrow so it's single file. Doesn't matter really 'cos you're on your own anyway. You're not walking very fast because you're a fatty. Somebody who's running is coming up behind you and would like to get past you. You know he's there, and he knows you know he's there. You just get out the way, no other options even thought about don't you? Just because you're in a glass/metal box and so is everybody else does not mean that you're all not people anymore, so why not act as if you're on foot? How often do you get the finger whilst walking through town? I think we pretty much all agree here anyway, don't be a Gary Barlow and just be polite!
  10. I wonder how many people on here actually believe that is a real notice put up by the powers that be of said library:sneaky2:
  11. I often do an extra lap of any roundabouts on my route, it gives a few people the chance to get past and I don't have to wait to keep going:thumbup1:
  12. Right then, I've emailed my Dutch local suppliers to ask if they'd be happy to chuck it in the post if I go there and pay for it etc, as Stihl NL also ban the sending of saws. I'm going over by train though so cannot take it myself. It should also make the VAT thing easier as they should charge no vat if goods are exported but would need either an official export certificate from the port authorities or proof of international postage. The latter is far easier to achieve and I'm not certain if for the export certificate etc you'd need to pay as well, apart from the extra hassle I'm not prepared to go through as traveling across two counries on lots of different trains (13 trains last trip) with twin 4 year olds is quite enough hassle already. I'll let you know their reply:001_cool:
  13. No, je suis une Dutchman. I just accidently married an English woman whilst working here for a few years and kind of got stuck. In NL we celebrate "St Nicholaas", also known as "Sinterklaas". the root of the dreaded "Santa claus". It's on the evening of the 5th of Dec and equals British X-mas in "festiveness". This means we always go Dutch the first week of Dec and always have X-mas in the UK, avoiding any international grandparent wars.
  14. I could probably send you one from NL, €399 inc vat, so about £290, ex vat wich you should not have to pay for an export, tracked insured parcel will be about £20. I'm off that way the first week of Dec.
  15. Looks an excellent technique to have in the arsenal, and it seemed to have gone excactly as planned? Bit of s shame I had to sit behind a still screen and listen to wedge-tapping for the first 3 minutes. but worth it still
  16. That first line is all it needed really. Firstly, it's horrible English: "Despite me...." should be followed by a "contra-point". Like "despite me washing, I still stink" But more importantly, it just sounds like a whining child, when I read it, I read this: "Even though I went to the trouble of putiing a whole, single post on the forum, to wich only one person replied, (which is so hugely unfair I'm stamping my foot at the computer) nobody has made me employee of the month and it's all your fault!":sneaky2: Now , I'm not saying you are a whining child, but your choice of words has made you sound like one. The rest is just asking for info you could have easily found out by a little googling but that's ok, loads of people ask questions on here that can be answered by google in less time than it takes to just log-in to AT. As an observation of this site, it seems a lot of people (and this is aimed at no-one in particular, just a general attitude) seem a bit scathing of young-uns wanting in on the action. I think it's probably due to the amount of qualified-but-clueless college-leavers. But this seems to have lead to the need for youngsters such as yourself needing to "grovel" a bit more, and behave a bit more humble than you would in normal life. Have a read through this, to know what to expect from cs30/31 cs31_assessment_schedule_june_2010_v2.pdf cs30_as_dec10z.pdf
  17. What if you'd construct some "tunnels" at maybe 10foot spacing, right through? Either use weldmesh, folded or bent, or put two lines of pallets against eachother forming a triangle-shaped tunnel, open to the outside. If you leave the ends open to the outside world I reckon you should be fine.
  18. I was offered a live lamb after a job once, I had to politely refuse.
  19. £19.841,00 inc vat(at 14% I think) according to that website, not a clue if and how much import duty you'd have to pay though, and wether you'd need to pay the vat in the first place if it's for export etc.
  20. None in ours, but it's on the wireless as well.
  21. He came past my daughters' school yesterday and one of them (my daughters) said to my wife:"the teachers are all much more excited that the kids, aren't they mum?" She's 4, bless her. All but one of the staff at their school are female. The mrs said he looked horrible, he made Peterborough around 22:30 I believe, some suffering! Well done for the effort so far!
  22. Bit harsh to have topped him over £200 I'd have said? But I suppose you're right, you can't let them walk all over you:thumbup1:
  23. Daft question really. Yes, it's definately worth it if you're in the trade of grinding stumps for a living. No, it's absolutely not worth it if you're the village baker.
  24. Outrageous! I got a cup of tea the other day with no sugar, even though I'd clearly spec'd 2 sugars!
  25. In the civilised world we say: "Penny wise, pound foolish" Surely it's the chain and possibly the bar that suffer? They won't be any cheaper for your cinese saw... As an answer to your actual question, do you mean the sticker that tell you to wear ppe and how loud it is? On my husky they're black on white, on my stihls they're black on yellow. In the real world though, they're often a greasy brownish colour:001_smile:.
