  1. Although the logic behind your "breeding" licences makes a bit of sense..... it is also the same logic a chap from Austria tried in the 1930's Dangerous! There needs to be a different approach to raising the IQ. However listening to some of the conspiracy boys at work the gov't won't allow it as free thinking is discouraged. Whole different thread.
  2. Nah...not me. Get a copy of the metro every now and then. Lasts depending on whether it's a good news day or no.
  3. All of the above. Paper from the recycle (till reciepts) birch bark - yes and back up happy shopper fire lighters all with pallet kindling (produced by GenSet Steve) Try to be low impact and green ...try to do that burning wood rather than heating oil.
  4. Currently hatching out some of his legacy....
  5. When you start going down the ban everything road ...things get tricky. Borderline unenforceable. Possibly they could Ban the sale of new non compliant/efficient wood burners and new installations- yes. But banning ALL woodburners and open fires? As others have said, there are greater contributors to particulates, but burning wood......?. Or, they could start at B&Q (insert other homewares chain here) and ban all BBQ's and Chimneas. Or, have I missed the point, is it only the particulates in home burn wet firewood? Madness
  6. Nice one.... Very interesting. Heard something like this on the radio. So people buy "kiln dried" from their local Esso that has been sat on the forecourt for a month and is far, far wetter than anything in my shed that has been air dried. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/jan/19/log-fires-traffic-fumes-cause-bergen-air-pollution Editted.... as I found that the Scandinavians ARE regulating. Bob
  7. Hi All, Again, Thanks for this. My parts diagram doesn't show a fuel solenoid and I get no hits on any internet searches. Can anyone supply a part number , or better a link to the service manual. I have this one...but I don't think it deals with m-tronic. MS261_parts.pdf
  8. Many thanks Paul I have yet to give it a go but I will in the next couple of days. Bob
  9. Thanks....I'll have a look. All out of stuff to cut, but I'll see if I can give it a go. Many Thanks Bob
  10. Hi All, Recently ( in the last few weeks) my saw won't start when it's hot. I've tried to "reset" the carb by starting from cold and running for 30sec on choke. Then switch off and start normally and run for 30 sec+ with no effect. The only way round is to leave it ticking over for ages which I don't like to do. I'm a hobbyist so the saw gets plenty of use in the winter weekends and an hour or so a day in the spring/summer /autumn and all weekend. All so far with out issue. Saw purchased 2016 Is it a fixable defect or back to the shop? Thanks Bob
  11. I'd have a look at http://www.evergreenext.co.uk/ If you are in the Southeast. Probably does national but haulage might kill it. Bob

    Location?
  13. Hi Mitch, Surely, depends on what you are doing. Personally I have a 25" Stihl on mine as regular for anything big. Also have a 36" Stihl on a mill with a skip chain to slab stuff. I have read lots on here with people using a 18"/ 20" as it has a nice balance and plenty of go. Probably get shouted down but the only other bar I am likely to buy (for the 660) would be a "Sugihara" from RobD i.e. Mr - chainsawbars.co.uk IMHO it's a top saw and requires top quality... Bob
  14. Build a Holzhausen. I have made a couple of these in the past. Very effective. Only need a small bit of cover for the top...platic/tarp. Job done! Bob random pic off web
  15. I use a metal garden rake....very effective.
  16. Many Thanks Dan.....perfect.
  17. Cheers Bill, I had already found this...I should have been a bit more precise. I was after the PDF version. I can get an owners man from the US Stihl site but can't find a working link to the partts manual. Or one I can use in the workshop away from wi-fi. Thanks Bob
  18. Please can anyone help with a parts manual for an MS440 Thanks Bob

  21. Chains were marked on some of the areas I have been. can't say for defo everywhere. Most structures or crossings will have a tag with a measurement. I hope it helps. Bob
  22. 1/4's and 1/2's are posted. The rest of the posting that I have used has been in chains. So you'll get 80 chains per mile. 20 per 1/4 etc. Each chain being 22 yards or arond 20m. Good luck
  23. I can't get a match on that number anywhere. Cheers though.
  24. I had 261 spikes as : 1110 664 0501 and the screws to attach: 9022 341 0983
