  1. When I first work for someone no chipper, we would stack brash on back of truck and rope it down, then put lengths of wood as poles to take more and tie the next lot down and then top it off and finally tie it down. No tipper so you just pulled on ropes to unload it.
  2. 150 diesel as they run Kubota, early 125 ran Kohler 23hp then switched to Honda they bought engines in bulk and what is cheapest at the time. Refurbished can mean anything, lick of paint covers up rust, If you can push to £10k you should get something.
  3. If you can find a TW 150 that's been looked after would be my choice, but if need machine to move around easy would go for 125 but needs to have braked chassis, not fun being dragged down a slope by one. Everything is so easy to maintain and blade change is quick. The major question is how much tree work do you do and how much are you going to do in years to come, then buy best and biggest you can.
  4. Years ago I took a big Eucalyptus down disced trunk in 9inch thick piece and then had to quarter them to lift them into wheel barrow. After about a year sitting in a pile, borrow a 90hp tractor and Hycrak splitter, stooled tractor no end of times. And had easy bits with a cut with saw.
  5. Lot of people don't like it as takes long time to dry out.
  6. Any idea if it would need marking battery storage,
  7. That's just to turn up on the day and do job, then plus this and that,
  8. Park pruner was the make stanton hope did. As above HBM are the same. You can replace threads but take some getting apart of old, we have just cut end out in the passed.
  9. A picture of some. Other saws to add are husqvarnas 357xp 346xp 61 345and another Echo. Picture is of modified 362xp to a 372xp.
  10. Was only talking to arb kit supplier I use the other day about all round protection, and I asked if anyone made trousers like the old SIP ones which had protection at the back but only below knee. He said no. They were great.
  11. Had a problem with a Husqvarna 353 the other week it would bog down, then stop, over fueling. Anyway look at it yesterday, started it up and ran lean and no matter setting ajustment made no difference. Stripped carb and found water drops in there. Haven't re assemble it to try it, but was told years ago water in carb can give different symptoms.
  12. Fitted a vanguard to my old Timberwolf 100/18 a couple of years ago, and it popped shutting revs down since I fitted it.
  13. Would differently think of getting trailer as how else are you going to move it away from site if loading timber on to transit without double trip.
  14. Heat getting to you, Disc has bearing both end of shaft.
  15. From what I can see from photos is, tree had proped limb and there was still public access when are parks going to stop doing this.
  16. Using at the moment, wolf loppers and a bahco pole pruner with 6 metres of reach. After pruning 6 holm oak with loppers got to be easier way.

    Prune.

Has anyone tried or got one of these pruners. Milwaukee M18BLTS-0 Brushless Telescopic Shear After using loppers for 4 days got to make life easier.
  18. It was also the reach I got from loppers rather than saw which was handy. Seen battery secateurs and very tempted but would not have reach. About 80% of growth was inch and a little more.
  19. Last 4 days pruning 6 Holm oaks and a Oak which is in decline do to being struck by lightning many years ago. Holm Oak had 4 years of growth just used loppers in the end to do most as quicker then saw, but killed arms. Loader made single track road clearing easy. Wind was a major problem blowing about 45km/h.
  20. Not nice. I went to doctors about 10 years ago not feeling well, headache, stiff joints, saw eyes plus other things, doctor asked what I had been doing at work, I had been cleaning scrub in a field was my answer. Gave me a form to get blood test, then asked any deer in that area, yes I said, then another form for blood test. I went for blood test and land up taking it out of both arms 12 files of blood and lymes not detected. Results came back low platelet levels and no answer why, just had blood test three weeks later then six weeks all back to normal. I deer stalk on an estate with a mate, we find parts of the estate deer are covered in ticks and other parts of it they have none.
  21. I did work at a private school up to about 4 years ago. They started saying, needed Risk assessments method statements insurance copy and DBS cheque, Told them to find someone else as had worked for them for about 30 plus years and was the person how had worked there the longest. School closed last year so no loss, and very little work ha been do there since I stopped.
  22. As mentioned Adrian Flux may be worth a try, limit mileage can drop price, also named drivers and over 21 years old. That's if you do that.
  23. Job I started last we and finished Wednesday, 200 meters of Estate fencing and pair of gate replaced old post and rail. Just need to paint once fluff has stopped falling off Poplars..
  24. Bought one about 10 years ago which was seized, rebuilt it and use sometimes, find it a very unbalanced saw compared to other 300 series saws.
  25. If you sit one in road back up cones with truck parked either side of it. And tell traffic management if being use and they will cone off long distance so you are safer.
