  10. welcome to arb talk greenhead carpentry it is near imposible to say with out knowing anthing about the plantation and carring out some measurments and anyway you would then only know the volume in of the stand but has a denicty of 380 - 450 kg/ m3 at a moisture conttent of 15% but when freshly fell it about 920kg /m3 also what products you are wanting to obtain as if you brash harvest as well it can increas a lot too. to find the volume you will need to know the dbh and high of the tree volume of an indeval tree = hight X basal area x form factor the basal area is the cross sectional area were the dbh was measured caculati 1/4 X pie X dbh squared the form factor is the to take it the taper of the tree i would use 0.4 ps this is a rough estimate use sample plots of know area (but keep a way from the edge of the wood) as stated above in worcswuss but note this is a rough estamate

  19. you will find that you will want to use the telehandler to handle the logs and the saw bench will get in the way and you do not need a pto for the spliter unless it a screw one. it will be cheeper to buy a old tractor and a telehandler, as you got more choose of handlers.
  20. do not be a cheapskate when it comes to looking after machinery, put time in to keeping it clean, and make a point of doing it, and make all the lads make shore they leave them clean at the end of the day. eg brush the cab out, it means that you can keep an eye on the gear and they have to show respect to it as if they do not it means they have to do more cleaning exctra. but also cheek the been greasing them exctra as well. it means you can also inspect the gear with out getting very ditty. a stich in time save nine,
