Man dies after going through woodchipper
easy-lift guy replied to Steve Bullman's topic in General chat
I do not believe there are any significant differences between the chippers I have seen and used here state side and the ones I have seen used at the APF. Regrettably this story has nearly run the news cycle and TBH I will be surprised if any further mention from the media will be forth coming. I believe the cause of death was greatly increased for the reasons and facts I have stated earlier in other replies. I am sure there will be a law suit against as many parties as possible by one of the larger carpet bagger firms here in Florida. A settlement will be reached out of court and the surviving family members will be left a whole as possible after all is said and done, until the next time. Same story different named victim, same ending. easy-lift guy -

One problem with very good idea. Nails screws and metal bits of material end up in trees over the years and this would reduce the amount of material fed into chipper, unless one could disable this feature until an accident because the feature was not reactivated. Nice try back to the drawing board. easy-lift guy -

Regulations and enforcement have nothing to do with being laxed or not. As stated before people in this business get in a hurry and accidents happen. Poor if no communication skills between the groundies and lower level management also contribute. The macho man mentality and communication skills make accidents like this common place:thumbdown:. I have actually seen people work harder and longer hours simply to show to their fellow workers how much better they are for the lady folk:sneaky2: Stupid is as stupid does comes to mind. Accidents will continue to happen. The existing cultural and communication problems I believe will never be over come. Conforming and learning a single language like English would help a great deal with solving the communication problems that have existed for the last 40 years. Alas the politicians continue to disregard the need of the existing citizens of this country and continue to cater to voting blocks thinking they will be reelected. easy-lift guy -

Actually what you consider an ill considered comment regrettably is business as usual:thumbdown:. Only calling a spade a spade. The sheer number of non qualified and under qualified body's to fill these positions are staggering. You would have to live in the states to understand the mindset and cultural differences that exist currently here in the USA. NOT GOOD AND WILL IN SPITE OF ANY CHANGES IN LAW WILL GET WORSE:thumbdown::thumbdown:. Can't paint a pretty picture since there isn't one base in current reality. easy-lift guy -

How does the TCIA have any thing to do with OSHA?. If the TCIA member you have been on about adopted a Two man rule that OSHA requires can you say definitively that there would be a reduction of deaths or injured personnel? I believe due to the continued influx of unskilled labor flooding the US jobs market more accidents will occur. Language barriers and different cultural beliefs are as much to blame as other factors when it comes to these types of accidents. Accidents can and do happen all the time. Unskilled labor and the desire of large companies ready willing and able to hirer this ever growing pool of future labor equals more of the same. Once upon a time skilled and semi skilled labor abound here in the USA. I regrettably believe these days are rapidly drawing to a close. easy-lift guy -

Just curious if mistake prone groundies have any business using such equipment in the first place?. Maybe the mistake prone groundie should find another occupation?. I do feel bad about anyone being killed in this or any other industry. That said if the person that died was improperly feeding material past the stop bar in front of the chipper that can explain how he fed himself into the chipper if he went in head first. Another way would be by having material fed into the chipper and vines becoming tangled around ones legs or feet. People get into a hurry and forget simple safety procedures for the sake of finishing a job sooner. Common sence really makes no difference when you don't have any in the first place. easy-lift guy -

I would not mention how and where anything is marked on a public forum. Try the members only forum. At least you may have a little more reassurance that another member instead of a theif is gathering intel for his next collection of inventory. easy-lift guy

I believe your hands may or may not be more comfortable with a heated handle. A regiment of anti inflamatories like ibuprofen with your morning meal and evening meal should help more. Remember only take ibuprofen with food, never on an empty stomac. easy-lift guy

I have used the following material with good results and control. Monterey Weed Impede (Surflan Herbicide, Oryzalin 4 Pro Pre-Emergent Herbicide Good Hunting easy-lift guy -
Actually your once again assuming things:sneaky2: Considering the number of other sponsors and members that I have had conversations with over the years regarding this topic. I can only base my opinions on actually occurrences of theft and how the police and legal systems deal with a majority of the cases that are taking place daily in the UK. I suspect that for everyone on this site that has had their kit stolen or more they would much rather complain about something else that they have a fighting chance of combating. Loosing any property to theft is a loose loose for everyone concerned. easy-lift guy

My opinion is from the outside looking in. Seemingly the degree of apathy by government from the top down and the surrender attitude that I believe exist since there seems to be no punishment for crimes committed is the root of the problem. I have read hundreds of threads on this site all stating the same thing and only rarely have I seen positive reports of suspects being arrested or even punished by having to either pay a fine or imprisonment. Until laws are either enforced or changed to discourage this wholesale crime wave facing nearly everyone in this industry, this pox will continue to get worse. I believe many members would if they could do more to protect their own property and interest if it was not for the suspected criminals having at worst equal and in some cases more rights at their disposal to protect them. Continue to report all crimes and make sure to follow up on all case numbers of stolen goods. Keep the Police and local government accountable for is happening. easy-lift guy

Birds are very smart. I once saw a video of some very large birds in South America carrying large animal bones and dropping them on top of rocky encropments at high altitude in order to crack open the bones for the nutritious bone marrow!. easy-lift guy

Actually I believe the OP may have been referencing the taking of cutting and growing a resistant strain of elm that will not hopefully acquire Dutch Elm disease. If cloning was that simple the problem would have been resolved long ago. Two primary causes of DED is a fungus and Native elm bark beetle, and smaller European elm bark beetle. Genetically speaking once and if the Two species of beetle are deleted from the habitat I believe the spread of this disease will disappear as well. easy-lift guy

Billhook, taking cuttings from an existing tree is not really cloning from a genetic stand point. If you are trying to grow an example of an elm that is not showing the signs of Dutch Elem disease ATM that is fine. Just remember that actuall cloning takes place in a lab under specific growing conditions usuall by groups of trained plant biologists, botanist, and plant genesists. I am sure work continues on this problem where ever the elm tree grows or has grown. Genetics will altimately be the cure or solution to many problems in the horticultural And Arborcultural world, however everything is always changing in order to survive. Just the nature of nature. easy-lift guy

A fellow member by the name of simonsenior built a scaffold out of aluminum and attached the base to a john deer gator, in conjunction with the Easy-Lift Harness. Simon told me that the estate he was working on before the investment of his Easy-Lift Harness took him 7 days to complete. Now the the same job takes 4 days. Working smarter sure does pay in more ways than one. easy-lift guy

Beds can be made to the specifications you have quoted, I suspect even in the UK. If the OP or anyone else chooses to exceed the normal safe range of operating a truck hauling debris seems he has a Two choices going forward. Invest in a bigger truck to handle the job in the first place or work with what you have and don't haul over weight loads. easy-lift guy

Actually I do know what I am talking about and the material I saw advertised made no mention of being faced on plywood. I understand that google actually is different from one country to another so I will take your word for the phenolic faced plywood with a high grip plastic facing if your willing to understand that what I have seen is different than what you have mentioned earlier. In regards to ally frames I know of many large dump truck beds that are exclusively made out to aluminum and haul 10 tons of any sort of material all the time. As long as you have the right type of aluminum to work with and a compenent welder the types of configurations to be had are limited only by ones budget and imagination. The OP can try googling aluminum dump truck beds and some American manufacturers should pop up. easy-lift guy

I googled the bed material and it came up as some sort if plastic?, looked like it any way
