I have to say I’m slightly erring on Kevin’s view that rules is rules, and we shouldn’t stand on ceremony for council officials , but just fairly follow the rules , which are theirs of the making . If they decide to bend those rules, that is not a consideration one should have to entertain necessarily surely ?

Hello all, I have a customer who has filed a 211 notice to fell an Ash tree within his garden. I think his reasons in this instance are justifiable and there is also evidence of Ash die back within direct sight of his tree. The local TO however disagrees and has asked for the application to be withdrawn and an alternative spec drawn up. My question is this; in such circumstances, given the communication from the TO but in light of the fact a TPO is not in place, can the tree still be legally removed after the 6 week period , in absence of a TPO , or does the TO’s correspondence cloud the issue and bring with it some risk of prosecution ?

They look like Leyland Cypress which aren’t as pendulous in their habit as Lawson for example . Scaling the hedge from the 6’ fence it looks to me like the reduction will be half between the top and the fence top. That looks like you may get away with reducing it and it looking relatively ok from your customers side . I think if it’s so important to her then it’s worth trying to find a way to placate her. The fact the neighbour has already stripped their side to bare stems makes me thing they are not overly bothered by aesthetics, and as such I’d not be paying them much mind

Are you sure it wasn’t I racing pigeon. I’ve sat fishing on a lake and had to land like ducks in the middle….take a drink, cool off and fly off like it was totally normal !!! Me and the chap I was with were dumbfounded !! I guess it’s how they cope with long water crossings but could be wrong

No but I’ve had the thin fleece for a while now and I love it, although the mesh arm pits make it a bit drafty in the cold, which can be kind of counter productive !!

I think the reason for the arches is that they’d store the cattle in them which would warm the dwelling above , or so I was told the other day at a very similar building !

To be honest I’d say you’ll be better off having them both done at the same time as you’ll only be off for one period . I had my first 8 years before the other one went…..lean times let me tell you .

I’d take it to where you got it MOT’d last year as you’re not telling me all that corrosion happened in 12 months !! [emoji6] Where abouts are you ? You can get a half chassis for £1k in 3mm, floor pans are £80 each I think, some judicious welding from a decent welder and you could get her back on track . A lot of the stuff on the list are easy fixed . I’d say keep it. It’ll still be worth a chunk of money

I’m not sure this is correct. The consultant I saw didn’t do key hole so therefore not an option . I guess at bigger practices and hospitals one may have greater options but this also may incur a further wait .

I’ve just bought the new Andrew’s Cervino wood XP as I was after a lightweight protective climbing boot. Not the comfiest boot I have to say. On spikes they kill and too long in a fork they’re uncomfortable. I also don’t find the sole as grippy as other boots and the tread is so aggressive it shreds bark on some trees. I personally wouldn’t get another pair. Admittedly they’re still breaking in but the above problems are irrelevant of their newness . I also bought a pair of Dreyer Tango Extremes which for ground work and spiking all day are so comfortable. And the tread is super grippy. A bit bulky though for technical climbing for my liking .

Don’t have it under local anaesthetic when they offer you the choice. I had my second one under local and I could feel them cutting me !!! Had to be numbed two more times, by which time my steely resolve had melted and I wanted to run out…..so they had to sedate me !! Not a great experience . If you have the option , go keyhole but you’re often not given the choice. The problem is the longer you leave it the more it might tear. I nearly fainted in a customers toilet mine got so bad !! Both times though (had both sides go ) I was back climbing steadily after 2 months. Nothing can prepare you for the colour and size of your gonads post op [emoji23][emoji15]. My friend and I were just talking about this last week. We both had the TM when it first came out but now he has gone onto the Evolution. He said the buckles are woeful and you need the fingers of an 8 year old girl to undo them !! He also reckons it’s 2.5 kg heavier which if accurate , seems a heck of a lot. Overall it would seem that for him, their was not one thing he preferred over the original one.

The Notch clip is pants. I’ve moved the bag to the leg loop as a) it’s out the way of the Echo and b) you can stow your rope quicker as you can see it clearer. And I’ve put back the police dog clip which I’ve filed the jaws of to accept the rope.

Me too, but they’ve replaced it with the Vergo which looks similar . Mines 10 years old which apparently should be replaced ……oops

UPDATE: I took the plunge and ordered one. After really trying to find a suitable space on my TM it looked like it would be a HUGE nightmare as my saw hitches on the same side and in VERY close proximity to the coils. It also seems that every samara on a Maple or catkin from an Oak would easily pull the coils out , thus necessitating a re-set of the thing. Not convinced and have sent it back without it leaving the kitchen . Ho hum, back like Joe to the Notch ditty with a re-mod

Yes I’ve seen these and the Gheko feet but you’re still basically back to faffage and fiddling , having to concentrate on stowage of spare rope though . How are you finding it Mark ?
