1. Well yes you were right on both counts. Fitting new spring in a wood with rudimentary tools was interesting but between two of us we nailed it relatively quickly and now the little saw jogs on a treat. Possibly only going to be any good for sitting next to the chipper but it’s not bad for a freebie. Thanks for your sage advice once again Spuddles 🥔
2. Can someone help ? I’m trying to replace the top pads on my old Distel Carbon gaffs. Does anyone know if the new version pad and straps fit my older version pictured? I’m drawing blanks thus far with the suppliers I’ve tried
3. No I’ve perfected the clutch removal with a pair of thin nosed mole grips in the recesses turned by a BIG adjustable !!!! The washers seem ok to be honest. The small washer came off sat between the sprocket and the body, with the big washer sat inside the clutch drum between it and the clutch. I’m assuming that that’s correct ? 🤷🏼‍♂️
4. Hi Spudders, yes it stalls every time . I’ve ordered the clutch spring so I’ll work backwards from there . I’ve taken out the needle bearing and greased it and it seems ok, but that will be next on the list then if the spring doesn’t win [emoji1303]
5. Yes Moosey I’ve done that. All looks nicely lubed and spins freely . I shall take another look now though [emoji1303]
6. A customer gave me a little Husky 236 X torx in very good condition . Starts ok, revs ok but I can’t get it to idle without the chain creeping , and if I wind out the idle screw gently it then stalls . I’ve reset both the high and low to 2 turns out and adjusted the low but it won’t have it. Any ideas ? I’m pretty familiar with tuning all my Stihls but this Husqy is proving obstinate ☹️ The only thing I can think is it may need new clutch spring? Any pointers ? What’s the best starting point for the hi lo screws to be wound out to ? Many thanks [emoji1317]
7. Stubbers, do you use this mix for performance gains or just to preserve the saws ?
8. No, that IS the actor in make up
9. Quality advice . Nice one Roughers [emoji1307][emoji1303]
10. Hello, I’m trying to find someone who could plank an Oak butt for a customer of mine. It’s an open grown English Oak dia approx 3’ . I’ll be honest I can’t remember how long/ tall the utilisable milling length might be but will know more once I’ve felled it next week. I think she’d like a rough idea of costs involved but also what lengths we’d need to cut it into for the mill . I’m sorry if this is in any way an irritating question or benign but my specialism lays in the climbing side not the end use bit ! [emoji51][emoji847]
11. Ok I’ve got cranial constipation . Can you help , I’ve either forgotten or never have knowingly learned what this is ....!!!! ??‍♂️
12. Unfortunately not, I’m not sure how I know [emoji56]
13. In all my years I’ve never seen this on a standing tree. This is on a 250 year old (approx) C Lime . The seam of fruiting bodies stretch from the ground to 20’ !! Any ideas what they are as I’ve only come across this type of fungus on the ground ..
14. I treated myself to the Fenix 65 dual beam. Waterproof , rechargeable , 3 light level settings for the spot or the flood beam and simple battery indicator . Better than my previous Petzls I have to say. Fenix HM65R 1400 Lumens Tri-proof Magnesium Headlamp for Long-time & High-intensity Outdoor Activities Worldwide Fast Free Shipping WWW.GOOGLEADSERVICES.COM
Description

Fenix HM65R is a headlamp with IP68 rated protection that suits for close-in and long-distance illumination. 15. How long does the battery last ? It’s a good price isn’t it though
16. Leyland Cypress. There is just ZERO about them that I can draw any inspiration or interest from apart from being cash cows. So BORING ?
17. As an aside, should I find the head un salvageable (as I do personally most Monday mornings!) , have you any experience of the Chinese offerings or are they a mixed bag of pot luck like so many Chinese parts seem to be ?
18. Yes I’ve noticed that even early on in their infection the limbs go incredibly brittle despite still looking ‘almost’ healthy . Very difficult to get direction on the hinge as a result . Behaves like Sycamore rather than Ash sometimes . I think winch where you are able to and don’t be too hopeful of getting your biased hinges etc to work like they used to on these infected trees. I can see us having to dismantle some grim ones in the ensuing years .
19. Many thanks for this. I shall do exactly this and pray the head is salvageable [emoji1317][emoji1317]
20. Yes , my new bar turned up yesterday . No lateral play on new bar with old chain. Now cuts perfectly with no binding = worn bar internal sides . Surprising on a 4 month old bar .
21. Your harness never gets as unusably wet and unenjoyable as your rope though ! [emoji26] Also if you use different ropes you just pick out the one you want for that task . Also if I’m just wanting to strop into a little pruning job I’m just lugging the harness bag with hand saws/ secateurs etc and not a rope I don’t need . We’re all different though [emoji1307]
22. Yep thems the ones. I bought one for £27 and now also own 3 . Built to last and reinforced if you ask. Also self supporting . I love ‘em https://www.instagram.com/rescuedfromlandfill I like the Climber35’s which will fit 60m of 12mm rope comfortably
