    Most of the HH climbers in the US are on Poison HiVee. I've been using it since January and no Pantin damage. I'd forgotten about Velocity.

    KM111 and Poison HiVee seem to be the most popular SRT ropes for working, from what I've read. I think the guys that use SRT purely for access use different ropes.

    I know. The funniest part is that John then sold the wrecked car on eBay for £6K and thought that was a great result. So much so, he bought another one last week!😂

    Back to the car theme. A few months ago my friend bought a 98K Porsche, took it straight to Brands Hatch and wrecked it on the second lap. Totally destroyed and he got one bruise. The insurance company said "no, you were on a track".😂😂😂

    Hi BenR Thanks for tips. I already use a sling at the right size for me and it works well but I only use it for the long mid air ascents with the hand ascender. The sit/stand technique is ok for short ascents and the sit part is acceptable because I really shove the HH up the line. This was not as effective with the RW. You're dead right about the practice part. My original questions were posted in order to get tips to refine my technique My 9 months on a RW have taught me the technique along with constantly trawling threads on Treebuzz, Treehouse and here. Keep safe.

    That comment is as out dated as the use of a Prussik knot. Almost everywhere else in the world almost no one climbs on hitch knots and it's been that way for years. The stubborn and down trodden British mentality prevents us from progression. Just my opinion, held up by global facts.:thumbup: That's not meant to be confrontational by the way:001_smile:.

    It's not a function but a feature. Many people on here comment on how they prefer mid line attachable and base their choice on that. Horses for courses, each to their own. Erm, my LJ is most definitely not "on my line right now as we speak". My Hitch Hiker is!

    It can matter (a bit) if you use two or more different ropes. Also throwline installation is easier if the device is off the rope. Not life changing but minor irritations. Having said all that I was a LJ user for 8 years. Having said all that the SJ user I know make those complaints. There's no argument here. I didn't say one is better, it's what suits a person.

    I wouldn't. The LJ is midline attachable.

    You may need to put in more than one afternoons worth of effort before you loose your rag😂. But if you have not killed yourself through frustration just be persistent. Play the long game and all will come good in the end.

    Yeah that's right. When above the LJ i just pull slack out of the top of it. The angle ensures that it locks off anyway.

    Don't be stupid these moronic campaigns against Simon Cowell and SyCo actually line his pocket just as much, if not more. Then it's counter productive because the people he's trying to make money from (contestants) loose out and they're innocent. I'll happily donate to the RNLI every day but not by being stoopid.

    If I was choosing a purely mechanical device I'd get a Unicender. Even if you're sure you'll only ever work DRT, you'll have the ability to get into the tree on SRT thus saving heaps of time and energy.
