  1. Twin stemmed Ash, 70ft tall, deep diamond shaped lesions right up the stem. Apparently foliage was sparse last few years. Any thoughts?
  2. So my Hitch Hiker arrived from Ropetek today. Hooray! First climb on it was three hours in a big wet Ash tree. It looks and feels like a quality product. It's as simple as a Prussik loop to set up and nothing else but a Pantin is needed. Ascending on it is extremely simple and for the first outing I used the sit stand method with my left hand on the HH, sliding it up the rope. I found that the HH advances the hitch automatically and there is about 1cm of sitback. Descent is predictable and smooth and change from descent-ascent-descent is perfect and as easy as a Lockjack. It also appears that the steel Karab and dog bone contribute to friction which means the hitch cord will last longer. I also found that this made the hitch sensitive, in a good way though. It's easier to set up than a RW and inspires more confidence, but that may just be a personal feel. I've also been following the 'Ropetek Hitch Hiker' thread and the 'Hitch Hiker Reviews' thread on The Treehouse Forum. I'd recommend reading these as there is some quality info.
  3. It's all just a laugh isn't it. 💋
  4. ????? I mentioned it once then answered questions. The RW is quality and sells itself.
  5. I'll probably be cursing it tomorrow😂😂.
  6. I know, sorry guys. I know I'm acting like a deranged idiot on Xmas eve about the HH but I can't help it!😂
  7. Unfortunately it gets little use lately as I prefer using the Hitch Hiker. Dave Brilliant! Mine arrived today. Woo-Hoo!!!
  8. Oh yeah. I stupidly forgot he's using a Uni😁.
  9. Also caorran, what do you clip the screw gate Karab onto?
  10. Good point. I was thinking of stiffness.
  11. Wow, a Uni and a ZK2! Blinged up!! With a tether straight from Uni to RW that should be great. Lucky boy.
  12. Gomtaro for me. I've tried a Zubat and didn't like it but that's only because I'm used to a Gomtaro.
  13. Also, it's the most expensive set up mentioned. I'm not disrespecting the Smart Winch, I'd love one but its not very well priced in the UK.
  14. That's not so unusual at this time year. Just be very careful with your t&c. Make sure you highlight that you're not responsible for lights not working after you've put them up. I came unstuck with this once. The client had bought the cheapest most useless lights and they were falling apart as I was moving them.
  15. Hi Justin That's a good product and I've been thinking more and more recently about getting one. I also think the price point is excellent. Not saying I'll buy one now but I just need an excuse of a job to come along.
  16. Cool. Thanks for correction on the Basic, I didn't know. I've spoken and emailed with quite a few HH users so I know what it will do for me. It's all good.
  17. Eh? All I said was I tried that technique as shown in the video. It worked perfectly for me with RW and perfect for the guy in the video. If course I'm certain of the HH or I wouldn't buy one. I was certain of a LJ and RW before I bought them and they were perfect.
  18. Yes and when I said make me an offer I'm not expecting anything great. It's helped me make money on jobs and doesn't really owe me anything. A token gesture that isn't insulting😂 and I'll be happy as larry👍.
  19. It is mid line attachable. I've also got the other pin without the black and blue bit on the end.
  20. It's the Singing Tree version. It's dirty as I didn't polish it for the photo. PM me an offer including postage and it's yours. It comes with the DMM thimble and 6mm cord for tether.
  21. No. Tractor62 said he'd send a cheque to me so I sent him my address. Last I heard. Still got it. Still for sale.
  22. Yes, think. It's all a bit confusing but if you watch the video it's all clear. Ignore that he's on a hitch hiker as it'll work with a RW just as well, almost.
  23. I'd advise against a handled ascender. They work well but are big and a slight faff. Instead, check out the Hitch Hiker Review thread on The Treehouse Forum. There is a recent video of a guy using a Petzl Croll (they call it a Basic) attached to a footloop. He has a webbing loop on top of the Croll as a hand sling and this enables hand over hand ascending. I tried it and its the easiest method yet IMO.
  24. Anyone want a load of wood chips in Dorking area on the 30th? Mixture of Oak and Beech. Free I you want it.
