  1. Sorry, misread your OP.
  2. Now this will be interesting. Good job guys and I hope you're getting paid for this. 😄
  3. I saw this thread on The Treehouse and it made me wonder who the gear junkies are and what 'essential' items you just couldn't resist. I'll start with: RW ZK1, Hitch Hiker, Stein Trolley, Stein Dual Bollard, Unimog. I'm sure there's more but i'll wait to see what you guys admit to or I could embarrass myself😂.
  4. Silky, not wishing to pee on the parade but the truck is WAY overloaded and one of your guys has no eye protection on. Careful what you put up here mate, your brand new boss could be looking.
  5. Good post David. For those that don't know, DMc did most of the R&D for the HH and is probably as well placed as PCTREE to dish out advice on technique. Keep it coming DMc as we're all HH novices here in England 😄.
  6. IMO it's a common misconception that the climber should be paid the most. I regard the most valuable member of a team should be the best rewarded. I've worked for a large company where a groundie was also the foreman and the highest paid. Indeed, I had just that situation within my own (small) business a few years ago. Of course the natural order of things most commonly means that the best paid is the most experienced and responsible and is usually a climber. IMO the person that is the most responsible, aware, good with clients/public, proud and professional should receive appropriate reward.
  7. The new Protos helmet, of course. Although, its so new I expected mine a month ago. Still no sound👎.
  8. I emailed Sherrill Tree a few weeks ago and they replied saying that the ring had been altered and is now good. I'm definitely worried though now its discontinued!:confused1:
  9. I can't quite picture that. Do you have a photo?
  10. http://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr111/DMcglide/HHwithstrap-1.jpg I used this hitch as this is what Paul Cox (Ropetek guru) recommends. This is a photo of DMc's HH.
  11. I tried it with my Lanyard but it was very painful. I've since used a short Lyon sling figure 8 over my shoulders to form a chest harness and held together with a small tool karab. It's cheap and works well although I only use it for long ascents when I use my hand ascender and foot loop.
  12. Oh, maybe I got the last one. I must say, this worries me though. Did they give up on it and flog me the last one as I'm thousands of miles away???
  13. I use them and insist my staff do too. They're a life saver when using a long hedge cutter.
  14. Says who? Mine arrived yesterday. Confused.
  15. Caorann, you use a different knot and not the one that's recommended. What's the difference between the two. How long have you had your HH and how are you getting on?
  16. The connector strap has been made stronger so I bought a 16oz. First time today Bigshotting into a tall Ash. All I can say is that it flies straighter than any bag I've used and if you hold the Bigshot steady you'll get you fork. I actually observed the throw line going out steadily because the Highball wasn't wiggling round during flight like a throw bag does. The manufacturers also say it bounces off branches less than a bag. Cobblers! It bounces like a good 'un! Money well spent though.
  17. Sorry I forgot to put them on. Damn. Not working from my phone. I'll try later.
  18. Up the stem and limbs and onto the thick branches.
  19. Twin stemmed Ash, 70ft tall, deep diamond shaped lesions right up the stem. Apparently foliage was sparse last few years. Any thoughts?
  20. So my Hitch Hiker arrived from Ropetek today. Hooray! First climb on it was three hours in a big wet Ash tree. It looks and feels like a quality product. It's as simple as a Prussik loop to set up and nothing else but a Pantin is needed. Ascending on it is extremely simple and for the first outing I used the sit stand method with my left hand on the HH, sliding it up the rope. I found that the HH advances the hitch automatically and there is about 1cm of sitback. Descent is predictable and smooth and change from descent-ascent-descent is perfect and as easy as a Lockjack. It also appears that the steel Karab and dog bone contribute to friction which means the hitch cord will last longer. I also found that this made the hitch sensitive, in a good way though. It's easier to set up than a RW and inspires more confidence, but that may just be a personal feel. I've also been following the 'Ropetek Hitch Hiker' thread and the 'Hitch Hiker Reviews' thread on The Treehouse Forum. I'd recommend reading these as there is some quality info.
  21. It's all just a laugh isn't it. 💋
  22. ????? I mentioned it once then answered questions. The RW is quality and sells itself.
  23. I'll probably be cursing it tomorrow😂😂.
  24. I know, sorry guys. I know I'm acting like a deranged idiot on Xmas eve about the HH but I can't help it!😂
  25. Unfortunately it gets little use lately as I prefer using the Hitch Hiker. Dave Brilliant! Mine arrived today. Woo-Hoo!!!
