  1. O.K. Stubby, This was the first time I observed it, that I recall, was all.
  2. So Stubby, unusual weather pattern related then , i.e. unseasonally fierce early heat followed by a cooler period or sommat?
  3. Dem fur hedges bes a right bugger, btw. I find Wahl brand best for cutting fur or hair.
  4. Chimps with Chainsaws! I should sell that title to Hollywood.
  5. Is it Reynauds syndrome, or poor circulation as my father would have termed it, that makes some people(myself included) more prone to white finger? In the winter months, if I do not get warmed up ASAP, bytimes I have to go in the house and steep the offending digit in warm water, it can also affect my feet, rendering them totally numb, despite rotating my Lowa boots on a daily basis and fresh socks every morning P.S. I have not yet mastered using a chainsaw or strimmer with my feet.
  6. As in I have observed the distinctive orangish colour fresh growth on several young Oaks, that I associate with so-called lammas growth.
  7. gulpin - Hamely Tongue WWW.ULSTERSCOTSACADEMY.COM gulpin - from 'The Hamely Tongue: A Personal Record of Ulster-Scots in County Antrim' I would actually have suggested, the same as an eejit, not realizing gulpin was an ageist descriptor.
  8. Oddly?, despite my father being a "gulpin" of a farmer, he told me about the dangers of "white finger" some 50 years ago, after some intensive large tree felling around the farm with his new toy, a big Remington chainsaw. I never forgot. I suppose I was then a trifle perplexed when our H&S Officers then "discovered" HAVS in about 2010/2012! But refused to give any advice as to which brushcutters to buy(a simple either-or choice btw), or how to manage their use. mth
  9. If you get a really powerful one, you can cut the branches from the ground too!
  10. Thanks OSM, near 1/2 the price of Amazon's offerings. P.S. I will be GLAD to hear them FRY!
  11. Meh! Difficult to tell how close they are to the wires, presumably electric, but also presumably not high voltage, and apparently insulated. Looks workable to me, for what is little more than a bush. P.S. I am still living at 60+
  12. As in the wired in 230V type one would see in chip shops etc. Anyone care to recommend a brand. Mth
  13. There are no sensible answers, that tick all the boxes, because providing decent care at an affordable cost for most of the truely homeless is an impossible task, especially if Government administered. And who else is going to do it? The Church(s) used to, but . . . I exclude those who fail to pay their rent, because they rather piss the Government provided rent money up against a wall. There is simply a percentage of any population that cannot cope, due to psychiaric issues, addiction, etc etc. How does society provide for them, without essentially locking them up, or somehow otherwise curtailing their freedom to ruin their lives ? Or do you wish to provide them a bed in your home? Regards Marcus
  14. Bloody Hell, there would then be twice as many of them, some solution that!
  15. Sounds like a job for an Essex girl!
  16. An allegory for married life.
  17. And what exactly does that got to do with supporting wor Boris pray tell . . .
  18. I believe even the Greeks of Homers day had the same complaints. And as a very tidy and gifted joiner often stated, "hard work was never easy".
  19. Eh! Why on Earth would one not sleep? Anyway the number of times it was in the fully wide-open, but top-hung window opening, and recoiled, no way was it going to voluntarily make it. Cheers mth
  20. Well I figured it was kinder to catch it, than blast it with the 12Ga. Especially in the bedroom. I was aware of how small they are, and no it did not bite me. Anyway good to see it released unharmed again. cheers mth
  21. Well bedroom actually, just now
  22. RJ&KD McLEAN Machinery Dealers in Dorset | The Farming Forum THEFARMINGFORUM.CO.UK They seem a good professional firm going by the website but a fair way from us and been looking at some tractors they are selling. Are they a good firm... "click" on the TFF image and it should? load the thread.
  23. But which end of the correct hammer was used? Having spent 32 years in a Local Authority, I quickly larned that such arcane knowledge was somewhat more esoteric than I had foolishly presumed. P.S. I was pleased to see that Monsanto had thought to clearly specify that the plug was to be inserted smaller diameter end first.
  24. Fucking Brilliant!
