  1. Cough, cough; Except of course JRM, and in fairness, Frank Fields also. P.S. How are Labour, the party of the working class, as I always understood, going to dissassociate themselves from our present burgeoning scrounging benefits abusing underclass, that are now a greater threat to the prosperity of the working man, and the UK as a functioning country, than the upper classes ever were. marcus
  2. Sniff, tis a wile pity my 40 acres is nowt but Conifer, and mostly windthrown Lodgepole at that, cos otherwise I ud be a squillionaire! Sigh.
  3. I discussed this subject with a very experienced old Forester about 25 years ago, but I was asking why Germany and France could grow arrow straight Oak and Beech, unlike in N Ireland. Never mind the Scandanavian Conifers. Despite his knowledge and experience he could offer no answer. And this subject still perplexed and vexes me. Is it the ground, or the climate or indeed the culture? Or what? Marcus
  4. Now that Blacksplitter kit concept makes sense KJ, I like it. Marcus
  5. Formulating autosomal/incorrect on this Kindle. That masterpiece should have been and was typed as "larger piece", And the first word of the above paragraph was certainly not formulating, nor was the 2nd autosomal! Schemes! Scheesh
  6. And, like! Ever the pragmatist me! Wot will it cost to replace a masterpiece of glass, especially if curved. Marcus
  7. No idea, but having googled "Slanetrac" is the brand, and various UK based dealers came up for Slanetrac. Cheers Marcus
  8. Thanks HK
  9. Yes an area where water ponds, the area paved being "dead" flat, hence pavers used, and yes a good stiff brushing is the answer, and I was pondering how to rig a hydraulic driven wire bristle rotary brush, the same as road sweepers use. Probably Kioto loader mounted, since the wee 50HP Kioti has good oil flow, though not wile handy or manouverable, but still workable with the creeper gearbox. I sourced one for the Avant , brand name "Slanetrac" I seem to recall, that I bought for the Council, for scouring the brick paver caravan bays at a Council caravan site, bloody brilliant after 20 odd years of doing it by hand.
  10. I.e. not so much grouting as treating with whatever product that will mostly prevent moss and grass and weeds growing in the joints. After re grouting with silica sand. So what product is best? Cheers Marcus
  11. http://www.spam-uk.com/competitions/ https://iremit.com.au/what-is-spam-and-why-are-filipinos-obsessed-with-it/
  12. Rings must have been badly worn, therefore each ring able to move and so run sideways. P.S. Even more fun trying to reverse a set of rolls?
  13. Cambridge rolls ackerchuy.
  14. Which is why I understood nightwatchmen types favoured them, or so I seem to recall, the big Maglights that is.
  15. Ah that explains the incoherent rantings from Diane Abbot, Corbyn, and all on the loonier-lefter side of the Labour party. The poor dears.
  16. A brain locker, for all staff to put their brains in, before entering the site, in case they should indulge in any potentially hazardous "thinking", instead of blindly following the "rules". Said rules generally written by a learned senior management type that has never actually been "hands on". This concept was explained to me 40 odd year ago, by a bloke that had spent some time with a NI Government agency. I found it to be true during my Local Government Supervisor duties too. Though the FC may well be different. Anyway, best wishs for your new venture, regards marcus
  17. I have carried an Elora strongbar this past 40 years, seriously because I once got caught by overtightened wheels nuts on a deflated tyre. It did occur to me that it could potentially have other uses, c/w a finger-moulded non slip grip and a lovely handy "heft" about it. different brand name, but the same product see link https://www.howdentools.com/products/king-tony-strong-bar-flexible-handle.html?page=19
  18. Der 461 Steyr Puch has been working for her keep this past 2 weeks, hauling kerbs and premix concrete for me to set aforementioned kerbs, not bad for a relatively neglected 20 year old. But as soon as I get the building works finished I will lavish some tender loving on her over the winter months. Unfortunately it looks like she will need a new offside front wing, though the chassis is still shiney and sound. Cheers marcus oops a 605C Fiat crawler, nominal 60 HP, unfortunately missing the High/Low gearbox, but very very easy started and fuelled.
  19. Well, see, from an N Irish perspective, if SF/IRA support Hamas, and they undoubtedly do, we got to support Israel, and I do. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. But sometimes a friend is just a friend, regardless of common enemies. But I do support the need for a safe space for those of the Jewish faith, whilst still having sympathy for the origional displaced Palastinians. However Israel has made a better fist of running a country, in the most difficult of circumstances, than most/all of their fractious Arab neighbours. And having grown up during the often miss-reported NI Troubles, and all too often our own BBC were the most, mostly subtly, Nationalist biased. I learned not to trust media reports. since SF/IRA definately took an early lead and won their relentless drip, drip, drip propaganda War with the British Establishment. Marcus
  20. Was that VW engine perhaps prone to overheating, for whatever design/location reason?
  21. But I understood the Caravelle and indeed the Combi Van were both derivitives of the Transporter Van, and if the Vivario had seats fitted in the rear, essentially it is designed to do the same job as the Combi Transporter. P.S. The Transporter has also surely got a high seating position, c/w transverse engine and transmission being FWD. Ditto the red-herring of fuel tank, exhaust and suspension gobbdly-gook, since Van designers all use the same CAD packages surely? Now if they had simply used some criteria like some minimum "x" m3 and "x" kg of cargo carrying capacity, after the seats were fitted, it might have been simpler/clearer/fairer. marcus
  22. Take it from me, tracks, whether steel or rubber baint no fun when going over stumps, as the Yanks ud say they be a "force multipler", and yes I would have doubts about rubber tracks gripping, based on my somewhat limited digger experience. That Yanmar bes a sweet bit of kit though, with its differential steering, complete with a steering wheel, I presume. marcus P.S. Re the "skidding", me being in rank Moss, stones, or even grit are not an issue, and skidding is simply the most efficient way, if not the only practical way, to extract the timber. I do shudder at the sight of logs being blithely skidded over granular soils, mostly on Youtube footage.
  23. If kinda hard enough underfoot 2WD should be fine, but one probably would need the brakes to skid steer, if working a 2WD to the max, thinking winching/skidding, so surely the Zetor is on the back foot in this respect? Actually so much simpler to max out the rear tyres for flotation/traction on a 2WD, that it could make sense, if the front wheels dont be doing nowt much except keeping the front off the ground when stopped.
  24. I try to do an honest mornings work at least twice a week, but at least I get to kip after . . .
