  1. Turbo generated Torque talks, regardless of the engine size. And one hopes with advances in metals/ceramics/oil technology, at no cost in terms of engine longevity. Such is progress
  2. Gosh! Even better news than when we was in danger o winning the World Cup. mth
  3. Is that to suggest Comarade Corbyn is only a raving political nut-job on Friday's, I do suppose so since this is a Friday 13th mth
  4. I agree re Blackthorn's deserved reputation, tis the why perplexes me.
  5. It is little wonder there are issues re the failing effectivness of antibiotics if people run to the Dr. for antibiotics for a jag, no matter how painful. Or is that remark to near the knuckle? This from a country raised perspective, and a father with a healthy respect for the dangers of blood poisoning. That is; first have a good hoke, apply dilute hydrogen peroxide, hoke some more, apply a poultice, & thole, BUT always watch for any spreading redness. I do not recall any of the 4 of us getting antibiotics as children or adolescents, despite the usual cuts and injuries associated with growing up on a working farm. P.S. Why is it reckoned Blackthorn is the worst thorn, how can it harbour any different bacteria to other nearby non blackthorns jags. Or what is so different about Blackthorn? Do Blackthorn thorns have a greater tendency to break off under the skin and leave bits in the wound(my take on it) Marcus
  6. Surely the FC has to recompense the purchaser for their mistake/misslabelling/misselling?
  7. ? Since I warnt allowed to put sad & confused on your origional post Mark. P.S. Seriously, fully costed? and by a Greek sounding bloke too, so remind me again of the on-going non-success of the Greek Economy
  8. Well I understood KJ's line of thought . . .
  9. Cousin put one in, "Coke Can" sized logs required, probably really need these for the smaller stoves; https://www.luxurywood.co.uk/heat-logs/8-eco-briquette-heat-logs.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw7IbaBRBqEiwA6AyZgsr1bcxKQvwQj3qA9Xb_Z7MtxbMnSHAB1hf6zWrXASJYf2GSKIz5URoCy_MQAvD_BwE or similar, to get any useful steady heat
  10. Ouch! now that was low, true, but low nonetheless! Anyway the way TM has shilly-shallyd about with the Brexit negotiations, good riddance. JRM is the only true Conservative leadership candidate. marcus
  11. Re invisible tape measures, I "blagged" 10 or 12 one year at a building trades exhibition, from the "Soaks" stand, I am lucky to find one of them, and then only accidentally when looking for sommat else. However, despite the apparent US fascination(based on my Imgur viewings) with never-to-be-found 10mm sockets, I have never, ever lost or misplaced my 10mm socket. mth Re the extra Bank Holiday, how about we get one if JC ever wins a general election, or is that less likely . . .
  12. see, btw. this was the "throw it there, it will do rightly", neglected, bulldozed bytimes, "firewood" pile that I been avoiding for a few years, hence the periodic bulldozing with the tractor loader, finally tidied up, & courtsey of the recent good weather, dry right down to the ground beneath. Now I need to construct a frame, out of Sitka poles, to stockpile my trees on, i.e. up off the ground, when I bring them down from the moss.
  13. Yes, Vindaloo indeed, seeing as ah just had a feed o SM's homegrown curry like ! An now safely tucked up in bed. mth=marcusthehic!
  14. p.p.s Ah just bes back from der Pub, like.
  15. P.S. During the match I were wishing England to lose, so as the England fans got a chance tay shagg the then horny female Swedish supports !
  16. Engeirland ! Nuff said !
  17. Whoohoo!
  18. From my v limited experience with the Police, once Plod has formed an opinion, however falsely based, the do all they can to find evidence supporting their opinion, and ignore any to the contrary. My case was a simple fender-bender RTC, where the other party drove into my stationary vehicle, for no reason whatsoever apart from inattention(prob on her mob ph), then got carted away in an ambulance and 3 days later made a surprisingly(and clearly very well advised) short statement the I had driven out in front of her, and that she had sustained a suspected broken neck. I made a full detailed statement at the scene, and repeatedly asked Plod to sieze her ph, he refused btw(cos it did not fit his narrative) said narrative instantly formed on the basis of a witness who did not witness the collision, only heard the bang and looked round to see the aftermath.(because she saw us at the last instant and braked as she swerved, she dragged both cars out into the other carrigeway) Finally the case went to court, she chickened out of lying under oath, much tooing and frooing between the barristers, and it was apportioned 50/50, I would like to have compelled her to appear in Court, but from an early am start, it was already the middle of the afternoon and we had left the dogs. So I didnt, but still regret this decision. Lying bitch wanted a meal ticket for the rest of her non-working life, was my opinion. marcus In sorry hindsight the fact that we did not make a personal injury claim probably went against us, when one thinks about it, a truely a sad reflection on the values of our current society. But we were not injured even though she had driven into us, so why would we claim?
  19. And he Whistles tunelessly, an says; "1999 Wor Steyr Daimler Puch Van's chassis is still perfect" despite zero maint or attention, well not perfectly perfect, only minor insignificent rusty bits. but in comparison to a 1 year old vehicle . . . I imagine it is the direct result of switching to Environmentally friendly water based paint systems.
  20. Was it pished on or painted, kinda hard to tell really . . . In the 2nd photo I would imagine zero prep or primer, the way the top-coat is peeled back, from the bare, & now badly rusted steel. mth
  21. Well ah fink so, but LGP Eddie et. al. are better placed to comment.
  22. An excellent arrangement Bob, and I suspect you will enjoy your semi-retirement, more than being properly bored-retired.
  23. perhaps not the correct place for this link, but hey, her be a bit handy like. see P.S. Even more impressed after simply googling duckgirl86 !!, bloody 'ell
  24. I do not like the fussy gee-gaw festooned "traditional" stoves, nor do I particularly like enamelled stoves, I do however like the modern Scandanavian type upright stoves or plain practical black cast iron with pleasing aesthetic lines, like our Panther series Morsos, or the baby egg shaped(G1?) Astroflamm even. marcus
  25. A simple Misprint most likely?
